The final (nPower) Ashes Test is starting today (today only counts for us on GMT) I'll give ya'll the lowdown:

England: a win or a draw will win them the series and the Ashes

Australia: must win to tie the series and regain the Ashes

Simon Jones is out injured for England, and McGrath is back in the Aussies (sp?)squad

Sure will be an exciting couple days of play, cant wait :imu:

Oh, please don't turn this into a "US sport pwns UK sport" etc thread

Every time you say ashes, I think of some poor guy cremated. :(

ah, Cricket. In the words of Bill Bryson, "contrary to popular opinion, Cricket was not invented to make everything else in life seem exciting by comparison. That is merely and added benefit."

319 for 7, its not brilliant, but its a damn good start, hopefully we can atleast tie this, if not win it.

yeh its not too bad a start, couple of low run scores for some of the people, but we will see how well the aussies do when they bat.

So Aussies all out first innings for 367, England second innings 34 for 1, the light is playing havok currently, so a draw seems a possibility.

Flintoff was on fire this morning along with Hoggy, together got the Aussies last 8 wickets for only 90 runs.

This is really the first time i've ever watched cricket and liked it. Its like when we won the Rugby world cup and everyone suddenly was the biggest fan. A year on and we have all forgotten.

Well most of us.

What are england on now? It was 1 for 6 then they left the ground due to bad light....bad light. That's a stupid rule. They play no matter what the light.

If theres no light, you can't see the ball, its alot harder for the umpire to tell what happened, let alone bat or catch it, therefore they decide its better if they leave it till the next day.

Ever been hit by a cricket ball going at 50mph+? It ****ing hurts.

Oh, and Australia went off for bad light the previous two days, so you can't really complain... :|

The only reason I know this is about cricket is because of "Life, Universe and Everything" .

Well not really, the national side has been doing well and gaining attention since the series win vs the West Indies in the Carribean two winters ago, this has been a long road towards possible Ashes victory, and i think circket will maintain its popularity for as long as the current team stays together. They are more likely to stay together than the rugby team due to the cricketer's just starting to reach their potential

zomg! England win! Suck it down Aussies, we've got our ashes back!

I didn't complain - was too busy being knocked out. I now have a lacking memory of the training session.
