[br]Geoff Keighley's The Final Hours of Portal 2 digital book is an extensive, behind-the-scenes look at the making of Valve's popular game, and it's now available on Steam.

The Final Hour of Portal 2 takes you deep within the top-secret offices of Valve for an unvarnished look at the creative process behind the new video game Portal 2. Journalist Geoff Keighley was granted unprecedented “fly on the wall” access to Valve to create this staggering 15,000 word multimedia experience. From the hush-hush Portal prequel that was shelved to the last minute scramble to complete the game’s story, The Final Hours of Portal 2 is a gripping and dramatic story brought to life by exclusive photos, videos, interviews, interactive experiences, and other surprises.

It's currently available for $1.99, click here for more info.

BTW, this reminds me about the in-game strategy guides you can buy. Has anyone used them? How do they work?

About goddamn time. Still a bit pissed that he had it for ipad only for so long.

How could you be that ignorant when it comes to your audience? How many players of Portal 2 actually own an ipad? I feel his choice to release it as an ipad exclusive for so long was out of his own Mac Fanboy Arrogance, and that's not a great way to get me to buy your product.

It was all experimental, he wasn't even sure if the price tag would remain on it. I'm sure he will make the same profit in the first hour on Steam as he did in the entire time for the ipad.

I read this shortly after Portal 2 was released and it really was a fascinating insight into how things work at Valve and what they've been doing for a few years. Desperate to find out what the game concept behind that something 'STOP' game was.

now only thing we need is the collector's edition guide on steam.

That little bot demo is really interesting, being able to have npc companions that interact with the environment to such a degree would really add something to a game.

Awesome. VALVE I LOVE STUFF LIKE THIS. Keep doing it.

I got it immediately. I just so happened to have a pre-paid card with $2.06 left on it, so no harm done.

Wow. Seeing Ennui here made me check how Half-Life 2: Wars was coming along and apparently, I've missed four releases.

A quid fifty for us in Blighty, and worth it IMO. It's a very slick presentation.

;) We're working hard on our next release too, which is an important one because it'll be the first fully multiplayer release where both Resistance and Combine factions are completely implemented and playable. Hopefully we'll be getting this out in the next month or two :D

That's a serious mod crime around these parts. Don't do it again.

Just so you know Ennui, your post begins and ends with a smiley.

Haha I actually thought about that and considered editing it out, but I figured you guys wouldn't call me out on it. How wrong I was!

Just noticed a mistake: He says Team Fortress was "based on Half-Life". He's thinking of Team Fortress Classic. The original Team Fortress was a Quake mod.

Otherwise a great read so far.
