Well what a great Christmas yesterday. Best of all I got my AIW 9800 pro, and wow all those AIW features are awesome. Then I went to test the graphics on Jedi Outcast, and while the game never slowed up at all, the graphics seemed the same as my 5200. I was kinda dissapointed, and the MVP 2004 demo looked the same too, the graphics still looked 2D. It came with the HL2 coupon so I downloaded it and that does look amazing, and the graphics look like they should on that at least I think so. Should it still look like my 5200 in the other games though?

Yeah I know but when I had Jedi Outcast on my Xbox they looked better than this, and I've seen MVP 2004 and it looks better.

Did you change the graphic options in the game?

Yea that is one thing you have to make sure, turn the graphics details up. Also AA and AF makes the world of a difference to people who often game.

Do remember that jedi outcast is a directx 8 based game so therefor a directx 9 based graphics card will only render directx 8 graphical effects and will look no different to the game rendered on a directx8 card. The FX5200 however is a dx9 card although a very slow one. The only difference you will see between them is the number of frames per second it will render.

the fx series may have a half-arsed dx9 implementation, but you'll never see a difference in image quality, except in source games, and only then when it's been forced to dx9.

Yeah I turned all the detail settings up in the games and ATi Control Panel right away, and yeah AA and AF make a big difference in the MVP 2004 demo, the demo only runs in 800x600 so the AA helps and the AF does wonders with the grass on the field. But I've seen videos of the games and played them fon an Xbox, and on the Xbox the graphics look more 3d, they don't look nearly as flat or anything, I thought it might be Truform but I wasn't sure and it's set to Application Preference as it can't be forced to on, I don't know maybe Xbox and PC just do it differently.
