I'd like some suggestions on some games to buy, I'm already getting Resident Evil 4... just see what the hype's all about.

And any peripherals that should be purchased.

Get the Wind Waker, Second Sight, Die Hard Vendetta, SMASH BROS!, Rogue Squadron 2, Spider-Man 2.

Only a wee selection of games there, but they're all good.

Wind Waker
Metroid Prime (certainly 1, 2 less so, but if you want the stroy, by all means)
Second Sight
Soul Calibur 2
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Pikmin 2
Killer7

Those'll keep you going.

Did the GC's online capability ever get off the ground?...
I remember hearing about it, but never really saw any games utilize it.

Super Monkey Ball (not the sequel) - best game on the GC :)
Metroid Prime
Wind Waker

Along with RE4 these will last you a good while :)

I'm sickened nobody has mentioned Mario Kart Double Dash

...get it

Double Dash is a crime against Mario Kart. //edit - ok, it's not so bad :)

If racing it your thang, F-Zero on the GC is very good (and fast). Wave Race is also a very enjoyable and chilled racer (and cheap).

Nope, never got off the ground.

why couldn't you wait a few more weeks for the Wii which can also play Gamecube games?

If you are going to post in annoyingly huge sizes, you might as well not post.

Also I agree with the above, surely it makes sense to save and wait for a Wii?

Except RE4, which you're about to get, Metroid Prime and Wind Waker are definitely two games you need to get for the GC.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is also a recommendation, of course the battles themselves differs from those found in the more original games like Super Mario World or Mario 64. Basically they're like the Final Fantasy games only much less tedious. If you're a sucker for those types of games you should get this.

Star Wars: Rouge Squadron, if you're a Star Wars fan don't miss out on this either. Fantastic graphics.

Res Evil remake and Zero are good fun if you liked them orginally, amazing graphics.

Timesplitters 2 and 3 are great FPS,

Metroid Prime and 2

I loved Viewful Joe, never played the sequels.

Rogue Squadron, and Rogue Squadron 2, RS is an amazing shooter, RS 2 sucks but its MP is the entire RS campaign.

Zelda. Nuff said.

Starfox Adventures if you like Zelda, similar game, maybe a little easy, but good fun.

F Zero for racing.

Super MonkeyBall

Super Smash Bros, great with friends.

Beaten! Damn! I second the RE remakes then--incredibly beautiful and fun and different!!

Super Smash Bros. Melee
Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
Super Monkey Ball 1&2 (NOT ADVENTURE D: )
Paper Mario
Metroid Prime

Personally, I would have waited for the Wii :p

I'm not interested in the Wii in the least, tbh.

I don't really like the new control method for the games.

The next next-gen console I get will probably be a 360... and that won't be for quite some time.

Thanks for the game suggestions. n.n

Added them all to my Gamefly queue.

But you can disable the new control method and go for the old school type, ain't it?

But about games like Red Steel or any other one that uses the motion-sensor crap?

No thanks, too innovative for me... I'll stick with my regular control methods.

You can play on the Wii using a GC controller can't you? And it'll play all your GC games, plus some new ones. And the price difference will only be about £100 I think?

I agree on the games that people have said and I have played.

You can't play (most) Wii games with the gamecube controller. Atleast it's not built-in to support it, but some are adding it in. Not sure if you can use the virtual console controller in lieu of the wiimote... it'd be pretty awkward for alot of games even if you could, being that they'd be designed around remote control.

But yeah... waiting for a Wii and working my way back, personally :D

Yeah, what sea said. I'd personally recommend Zelda:MM, Super Mario Sunshine, Rogue Squadron/plus the other one after that, Resident Evil 0, Resi Evil Remake but the game that stood out to me most... Star Fox Adventures. Seriously beautiful game with some lovely locations, characters and brilliant gameplay. I loved it.

Ya it did, only 3 games used it though.

Here they are:

Fantasy star online epissode 1&2

Fantasy star online epissode 1&2 plus

Fantasy Star online episode 3

You can also play mario kart double dash online with a program called warp pipe. Google it if you want to know more, it works like xbox conect.

me and my friends love double dash, playing in the same cart in 2-player can be great coordination / fun

Alrighty, I did a bit of research...

And I'm getting a Wii instead, since apparently Nintendo's letting us play their oldschool games?
NES, SNES, N64?

Yeah, Wii for Christmasplz.

Hell yes :D

Nintendo knows how to treat it's oldskool customers. Oh yes they do.

Apparently you need a GC pad to play GC games on the wii - the retro pad only working for games pre GC. Seeing as how you can also play all your other virtual console games using a GC pad it seems the way to go (which is great for those of us that have 4 laying around :))

Yeah, seems like... but I never liked the GC controller personally, and the VC one looks so cooooool.

The GC controller was the best of this generation. :O

PS2 was the worst.

Meh. The button layout is pretty cool, but the sticks are a little weird and the triggers are really sticky and... jammy... idunno, the whole thing feels a bit cheaply made too.

Keep in mind this is from my experience of a friend bringing theirs over for about a week.

The shoulder pads are the best analogue shoulders pads on any system, and the 8 point joystick indents really help.

Perfect.

Also I've gotta say the build quality is great.

But Nintendo have always made the best controllers.

Excellent, absolutely no need to buy that classic controller. :D

Yeh, I might get one classic pad eventually. It still seems that the best option is to have a few GC pads, especially if you have plenty of GC games. Wavebirds ftw.
