Tried all the latest drivers and nowt worked, tried all the stuff, stuttering wasn't so bad (about twice a lvl) but the crackling sound did my head in(makes it worse cos I use head phones).

All I had on my PC was the audigy drivers, I didn't have all the eax setup programs like audioHQ etc. This is due to them not been on creatives site (why can't they do a full package audigy download I will never know).

So I popped in my CD that I got with my Audigy 2 and installed eax console, audiohq etc and has soon has I heard the helicopter at the intro screen I could tell the difference. Things like when the big strider thing walks by at the begginning now sounds awesome with a big boom every step. There also seems a lot more sounds ingame now, I can hear things like bullets whizzing past my head etc and the impact of surfaces sound loads better.

I still get the stuttering with the loading of textures, but I only see it at the beggining of the level and maybe once more per level on some levels(did the read only thang with the auto saves aswell).

I just wonder if all the crackling sound is due to not been able to turn eax off ingame, dunno but the audigy setup cd certainly worked for me and its probably the only thing I have tried that I have not read about on the forums.

Hopes this helps some of u.

(I still think it sux that I have had to do all this messing tho, but I least I can play this damn fine game now)

Some good work there, ill give it a whirl. I too have static noise now and then and i noticed it while i was using headphones. What exactly was it that you installed from the cd, audioHQ and EAX console? Cheers. Ill wait till you respond and i'll install whatever it was you installed and report back on whether it works for me.

AudioHq, speaker settings, speaker calibration, creative mixer, restore defaults and diagnostics. Basically just the game stuff.

I can slightly still hear a slight pop if I get a judder or two ingame, but only if I listen really carefully, if i put my speakers on instead of my headphones i can't hear it at all.

Everything sound just seems to have more umph rather than the tinny crackling/popping i was getting before. Things like shooting the blue barrells and metal buckets just sound spot on. :D

Hope it helps m8.
