Firearms Source - Internal Alpha Begins

Following on from the recent news of the Incursion team joining the Firearms: Source team which can be found here I bring you word of the FA:S internal Alpha![br]

It's been no secret around the Firearms community, but today we officially announce that we've begun private alpha testing. We currently have about 40 testers and over the next several weeks we'll grow that number significantly as we expand to testing servers across North America and Europe. In the meantime, KFM and DXC have been kind enough to host a beautiful testing server and KFM has been working overtime coordinating between testers and helping to dial in weapon performance.

[br]This is very exciting news, and I personally can?t wait for the first Public Release which surely can?t be too far away.[br]I also bring you some new media from the team. They have a new video up, which can be found here. This video is taken from testing of Hitman's sd_Durandal and Dyspatch's tc_iwojima, however it was made before the Incursion team joined, so we have to wait for the next video to see the new assets that have been introduced into the FA:S mod. The team have also released a nice selection of new screenshots, find them all here[br]

Source mod community really seems to be growing strong.

I got confused a while back, is this from the original firearms devs or that group that somehow managed to get the firearms domain and put something about an HL2 mod up with no permission from the original team?

no, these arent the original devs, or the guys that are affiliated with the people who attacked the froums/ ftp. FA:S does have permission from the original devs however.

The player models are currently being replaced with 100% custom ones.

I LOVED Firearms on HL, sign me up for round 2!

Yeah the first was pretty cool but was surrounded by arguably better, free mods.

Right now there's almost nothing in the half-life 2 mod community to compete with this so it might do a lot better. Plan of attack is dead and was too slow. Firearms is fast and vicious, instant action and fun.

We'll see how it goes.

theres been an influx of stuff from INC mod joinging, and there has only been one modeler on the team . still no excuse i guess.

naming convention..

ha! Look at Insurgency. That's been in the Internal testing phase since man found fire and a release is still no where to be seen.

Seriously though, this is looking great, I've been looking forward to a Firearms mod for HL2 for a long time. Of course, as someone correctly pointed out, this doesn't have to be released for a long long time...
