When I was younger, I set off one of those 2 1/2, 3 inch dynamite sized firecrackers in my hand. I had no idea the fuse was gonna burn so quickly. My hand was just a little red and sore though... blister or two. My hand didn't blow up or nothin'. Lost hearing for like 10 minutes though.....

You must have been damn lucky, because i've heard of people talk about their fingers/hands getting totally mutilated by having a black cat go off in it. I worry about my little cousins on days such as 4th of july. They are so reckless and careless, and their lives will change if they just get one ounce of bad luck. They just dont ****ing listen!

Defianatley when small cute and fluffly animals get involved. I've seen two kids loose their dogs that way. That kinda thing can make you puke in the peak of health.

The firecracker itself was not making contact with my hand when it exploded. When I noticed how quickly the fuse was burning, I sort of jerked my hand foward at the split-second so it flew off. Unfortunately, I didn't do it soon enough and it exploded something like 3 inches from my hand -- still close enough to hurt like hell though.

I've got a movie where they stick a big rocket (used to create avalanches) in the ground and a couple of hairspray cans attached to it. That thing could easily blow up a van.
