Firefly season 2 make it happen you ****ing bitches, seriously. Book and Shepherd are dead? Make it a prequel to the movie you ****ers.

Who here also harbours great resentment towards the cancellation of the greatest tv show in the history of tv?

I miss the show every time I watch it from beginning to end.

Oh and, as for a Serenity prequel.

Agreed 100%. I just want the show to return. It's bullshit that it got cancelled.

As for an MMO, judging from past attempts to turn tv/movies into games, I dread how it will turn out. I doubt they would get it right.

The reasons for its cancellation are so idiotic...

I'm still a little excited for this game, although I was hoping a Firefly game would be single-player.
 
They will never bring firefly back - Serenity just didn't do well enough.
Of course it wouldn't matter if Fox had just given the show a chance in the first place.

As for the MMORPG - could be very good if done right.

I personally don't like the idea of messing with the Firefly series in a way that isn't making another one. If it works really well, then yeah I'd play it. But I honestly don't have much faith in games companies nowadays to produce something that's up to Joss' standard.

I say they spend the money on financing another series with someone who isn't Fox.
 
I don't think an mmo could do Firefly any justice, or fill in the gaps in a satisfying way. There was just soooooo much mileage left in the series - backstory to uncover, characters to develop - and Serenity put a lid on everything.

Firefly always raises mixed emotions in me - it's the shortest and sweetest show i've seen, but also the biggest disappointment. The potential was obvious to see god damnit! It would/should have been the best sci-fi ever, no question.

Too many times i've imagined new series stretching off into the distance - finding out more about those freaky dudes with the blue gloves, watching Jayne slowly being dragged into decency, uncovering Shepherd's secrets .....

It would be possible to continue after Serenity, but so much has been given away so cheaply. Content that should have taken whole episodes/series to explore thrown at us in minutes, and doors locked by killing off key characters. It wouldn't be the Firefly the fans love, which is why, despite how much I loved the show, I wouldn't want a new series :(
 
Firefly wasn't about a buncha guys in a starship doing missions for everyone....well, yes it was, but it was a lot more than that. You can't capture a character's philosophy or emotional state in an MMORPG. Just give the Firefly license to BioWare or Obsidian, hire Joss Whedon to write the game script with them, and hell, use the KOTOR engine. THAT would be the ultimate game. If Firefly was ever gonna be a game, it should be a single player RPG based in the Firefly universe.
 
It could be decent. Their focusing on the game world itself rather than the chars. and events in the series is a good decision.

Of course my first choice would be bringing it back to TV , Plus Buffy - it's 8th season is now being made in Comics by Joss , but those chances are very slim.
 
Well if he's gonna do it for Buffy, he's gotta do it for Firefly! That would make perfect sense. And everyone would love him. He did one Firefly comic and it was awesome, he can do another. He can do an entire series on them.

He better :(
 
Serenity was Christmas Number 1 last year in DVD sales, with Firefly in Number 2. All talk about it not making enough money is bogus. It didn't do as well at the box office as they would of liked, but that echoed through all releases in general. Infact this year is the first year in a fair few that total number of ticket sales went up.

As for a MMO, not in favour.
 
I'm all for the show comming back. Like a movie about Shepard....to unveil his mystery, ya know?

But I wont complain about a game.

Could be awesome. Then again, it could be terrible. We'll have to wait and see.
 
Anything with Firefly is bound to be at least a little good, but I doubt how this could even touch the awesome-ness of the show.

Although I dislike the series, I have yet to see a space opera mmorpg done correctley, and I hope that this is it.
 
Ive only seen serenity... and it was shit. What the **** is so special about this series? It just looks like another tv show with shit cg and shit acting.

Admittedly, I saw the movie and loved it enough that I bought the show, which I then fell head-over-heels in love with and have been ever since.

I actually really liked the first episode. Just throws you straight into it. I liked it.
 
They should know that anything dealing with Firefly needs to be handled with great care, they won't **** it up... they can't.

Anyways, my favorite episode is Shindig. <3
Least favorite is Heart of Gold.
 
LOL , that was hilarious.

Lets be realistic , the chances for the game being worthwhile aren't good m but not touching the series characters and events gives at least a hope for a chance it might be worthwhile.
 
I think an FPS mmo more than anything would be good. Where you design your own ship (Or choose out of an authentic range), then you can run around it and have to employ people and stuff.
And that means it'd be better when reavers attack your ship. You would get totally owned.

RPG using KOTOR engine please D:.

Hell, the KOTOR games and Mass Effect will probably be the closest we ever get to a Firefly game.
