Firefox and halflife2.net password

I can't seem to get Firefox 1.0PR to save the password for this site. It'll save the username, but not the pass. Is this an issue with the site or Firefox? Just wondering if anyone else has reported similar issues. It's not a huge deal, just slightly annoying.

Nope, it saves mine ok. You have to make sure you click on the password box, and then possibly wait a bit.

Sounds like an issue with Firefox to be honest. I take it you're clicking the "Remember me" check box, but I'd recommend going through all of your Firefox settings to make sure the cookie settings are correct.

As long as I don't click the log out button at the bottom of the forum I remain logged in. So the cookie is fine and working properly. But I'm talking about the password manager built into Firefox. When Firefox initially asks if I want to save the site password, I click yes and the site shows up in my list of saved passwords, but only the username.

If I go into Options > Privacy > View Saved Passwords > Show Passwords, it's blank where the password should be. If it was working as it should, even after previously logging out, Firefox should automatically fill in the user/pass fields upon visiting the forum. As it stands, it'll fill in the username, but not the pass (obviously because it won't save for some reason).

The other sites I have stored in the password manager work fine. I've tried deleting the site from the password manager and re-saving but the problem persists. So I'm not sure what's going on.

Try to look into preferences into "passwords never saved" if you haven't mistakenly hit "never save password for this site"

Nope, nothing there. Good suggestion though. I guess this problem is isolated to me, otherwise it surely would have been brought up before. :(

Another idea: as somebody before said, do you wait until everything on the site loads? Firefox (and probably all gecko browsers) fill in the form after everx single bit of page is loaded.

Yeah, I do. I guess I'll try re-installing with a clean profile and see if that helps. If not, it's not huge deal.

Just out of curiosity, since you seem to use Firefox, can you reproduce what I'm describing? I realize this is a stupid question on many different levels but it never hurts to ask.

For me (using FF1.0PR, Linux) everything works well. Probably something strange happened to your profile so it doesn't save password, but as it's not reproducable, I don't think it's a bug.
edit: wait, maybe it's not so, I'm going to try something

So, I deleted all coekies and passwords related to www.halflife2.net. After that I filled in nick and password leaving "rember me" unchecked, FF aked to save password so I saved. But after revesiting site FF didn't fill in the password, as you said. It's not much problem as checking "remeber me" means you don't have to fill in anything, but at least it's a little strange 'cause obviously FF and this forum don't like each other a little :). I haven't notice this behauviour of FF anytime before.
I'll try to look at it, if I think it's a FF bud, I'll submit it into bugzilla.

So, I probably know, why is it. This page uses some javascript to hash the password and this js seems to remove the password from the form when submitting, so FF stores nothing. Maybe someone could hack the used js so it won't delete the password while hashing it, but as the "remember me" choice works well, I don't think it's of a big priority.
edit: I've just realized, that it can't be done, the password must be removed in order not to be transmitted over internet not encrypted.

Yeah, that's understandable. I just have this thing about logging out of sites/forums when I'm done browsing/posting. Yeah, I'm probably a little weird. But thanks for checking it out for me. Cheers. :)
