Firewalls?

HL2 still doesn open. i have
Norton anti virus
zonealarm
spy sweeper

for all the programs i allowed full access to the internet to them and to act as a server, and HL2 still doesnt run. i even added another gig of RAM to my computer and still nothing. im also in a tight spot, it says my copy of windows isnt genuine, so i dont know if that would affect gameplay...

Have you tried disabling Zone Alarm just for testing and see if it still lets you? If it does, then it seems ZA doesn't like something.

The windows problem wouldn't affect the game itself, although I would still suggest getting a real copy.

ok, number one... i never said i stole anything, my dad is the one who setup my computer, im only 17, im just trying to play half life. and yes i bought half life, think if you needed help and someone said what you said and you were in my situation, if the copy is really fake, then ill go buy a real version just so you can feel better falling asleep at night... as for the people who have been helping me out, thank you.

if anyone else knows what to do with the firewalls any help would be appreciated.

If you have Norton's 2006, you shouldn't have any problems with its firewalls (speaking from experience)

ok...
so i shutdown zonealarm, norton, and spysweeper, quit all other programs, etc. still the same problem, i double click HL2, the box that says "preparing to launch half life 2" comes up, then that box closes, my cursor has the hour glass next to it loading, then it goes away and nothing happens... i dont know what else to do

Have you tried verifying the game files? right-click the game and choose Properties, then go to the Local Files tab.
