500-600w????
Holy!
Looks fairly good....i guess.
The 500-600w was for a dual 6800 sli system if you read it. 400ws is reccomended for the 7800, also the i'm not suprised that they didn't show the number of pipelines since they no doubt have less. People wouldn't understand that their pipelines are more powerful.

you must read to m8 :p
it will have 24 , like PS3

sure, then you can hand over your 6800 ultra over to me then :hmph:

And ill take your 9800pro thanks =)

And no, noone can have my geforce2

I hope they make an agp version...but if i need to upgrade my mainboard/psu (i have a shuttle) anyway, then looks like i might aswell go pci-e.)

that thing sounds nasty....would two of those bad boys in SLI configuration be more powerful than the GFX card in the PS3?

I still don't see any signs of DirectX 10 ... and this 7800 will be released after longhorn won't it?

this chip is using in PS3 (little changed)

do u mean its used in the PS3 :s

becuase if it is then pc's graphics will be better in a matter of months.

this will still be based on dx9.

I see no reason to upgrade from my 6800 Ultra. How much faster is it...really?

1 of these cards is alittle better then the ps3 card.

This thing wont be out for ages- the 6xxx were announced like a couple of years ago and took a year to come out- didn't they?

Actually, IIRC, it's not. The PS3's RSX is supposed to be faster. It should be basically the same architecture other than a few changes. At the moment, the only difference I can remember is that it runs at 550MHz instead of the 430MHz this card is said to use. Also, it has a much faster processor (Cell) to back it up... meaning the bottleneck holding the performance back should be either the card itself or its memory bandwidth. That's not even considering the fact that a console with the same hardware would be faster than a PC because of its efficiency (at the expense of versatility and expandability).

Two of them running in SLI should handily beat the PS3's RSX... unless, of course, the PC's CPU holds them back.

it says at the vr-zone link "Launch: June 22nd"..is that '05 or '06?

this year.

cell is very good CPU, but when the spring comes in 2006, the PC will come close to speed of cell.

If Cell is as good as Sony's numbers suggest (it might not be) it can pump out about twice the operations of the Xbox 360's CPU, which is supposed to be faster than any PC CPU. If it's as fast as Sony claims you won't see a PC with a CPU to rival the Cell processor for at least a year or two after the PS3's launch. Sure, the GPUs will be almost as good (maybe equal) by the end of 2006... but, lately, games seem to be more and more bottlenecked by having a CPU that can't keep up with the GPU. The PPU should help to alleviate some of the problem by taking the physics load off of the CPU... but it really has to get developers' support before it becomes useful. If all goes well the PC should level the playing field by mid to late 2007.

I think it would be sooner. mid 2006 early 2007. PC will be even if not better then console.

Dutch tech-site www.tweakers.net seems to have the official specs of the G70 and they say the last rumours were pretty spot on.

0,11u, 430 Mhz core, 24 pixelpipelines, 8 vertexshaders, new shaderarchitecture to speed up SM3.0 (CineFX 4.0). nV claims up to 2x as fast with specific shaders as compared to NV45 partly thanx to a new design of the texture units (specifically HDR with 64-bit floating point textures). 50% faster than GF6800U and between 18.000-20.000 points in 3DM2k3. Small improvements on AA and AF (Intellisample 4.0). Better videodecoder. Longhorn Ready (prolly WFG1.0 ready). Slogan "Full Throttle Graphics". And the picture of the single slot card that was going around IS GF7800GTX. Asus and MSI will show it at Computex, but it's unclear wether or not nV will launch it there

edit: complete translate of the info :
The information on the nVidia GeForce 7800 Gtx videocard, earlier leaked out, seems to be valid. Tweakers.net have got hold of the G70-core official specifications and these appear to be the same as the specs in the rumor: 0,11µ-core with a core speed of 430MHz, 24 pixel pipelines and 8 vertex shaders. Nvidia renewed the shaderarchitecture in the G70-core, bringing CineFX to version 4.0.

The performance in games which use Shader model 3.0 will are considerably improved, says Nvidia. They claim that – with the use of certain shaders – the performance increase could be as high as 2 times, when compared to the NV45, particularly thanks to a new design of the texture Units. More specifically HDR-effects (high dynamic range) with 64-bits floating point textures.
It is said that Unreal Engine 3.0 will use a lot of these effects to render lights more realistically. According to our information the card will be approximately 50% faster than the GeForce 6800 ultra, and score between 18,000 and the 20,000 points in 3DMark03.

Beside better performance, the GeForce 7-series will also deliver better image quality than the current generation. With what Nvidia calls Intellisample 4.0; a number of relatively small improvements have been introduced in the field of anti-aliasing (AA) and anisotropic filtering (AF). Also the video decoder is tweaked for better performances and quality.
Furthermore Nvidia claims that the new architecture is compatible with Longhorn.
Most likely Nvidia is talking about “Windows Graphics foundation (version 1.0)”, which means – among other things – that the chip can do multithreading.

The card - which the slogan gets "Full Throttle Graphics" - will be shown at Computex (31 May up to 4 June) by Asus and MSI, but it is unclear if nVidia will announce the new chip there too. Earlier rumors about Nvidia’s official accouchement spoke of 22 June.

Finally we can present a photograph of the new card. Note the compact cooler, which seems to take up only 1 slot. Although the information on the requirement for a 400 watt PSU seems correct, however, the warmth development possibly turns out better than expected.
