This is my first basic map for C:SS. Not groundbreaking but it's a start. Your opinions? Take in mind I am a beginner.

THIS IS MY MAP ITS CALLED DE_ABANDONED_DESERT. YOU HAVE TO RESCUE THE DESERT FROM BEING BLOWN UP CUZ ITS A SECRET TERRORIST BASE. BUT THE TERRORISTS WANT TO BLOW IT UP CUZ THEY ARE A DIFFERENT TERRORIST GROUP THAT HATES EACHOTHER

THIS PART OF THE MAP HAS A SEWER AND IT SAYS STEAM LOL CUZ STEAM IS HOW YOU PLAY COUNTERSTRIKE

This is why people should never release their first maps.
 
Hum.. I really don't think you should go for an arena type map as your first, Mellish.

There's a lot of things you need to get better at, and the best way to do that is to aim for a more realistic setting. One with lighting, use of props and models, more complex texturing, and getting a non-clashing feel to the colors. You've got a wooden theme there in your map but the textures don't match at all.

And that's just the aesthetic side to mapping, you should learn about the mechanics of a counterstrike map. Go study popular maps like Dust 2 and such. Note that it has choke points, camper spots, close encounter areas, long range areas. With this map it seems you just placed some stuff at random.

I'd get a lot more practice before you release anything anyone's going to want to play.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not planning on releasing anything soon until I get better anyway. This was basically an experimental map just to test out my mapping skills.

if i ever do any map creating it would be alot worse :p
