First Remote File Uploads, now Animated GIFs?

I've known about the Remote File Uploads bieng cancelled, the topic was brought up here a while ago. But now I can't upload GIFs anymore either... which is rather annoying, because I just made this lil' one:

When I try and upload it, I simply get a message saying:

This can't be right. There's no reason to disallow GIFs- half the users are already using them, plus as long as they're inside the filesize limit they won't affect the site loading time in any way... so it must be an error. Anyone else having this problem?

Gaddamnit, don't say that you're not having problems then! Go on, try it. Just see if you can upload your current avatar... again. It won't reset your Fruedian masterpiece or anything.
