Thor has somehow managed to undergo filming for a couple of months with no real images, even fan snaps, coming out. Now Yahoo has the first image of Australian actor Chris Hemsworth as the Norse God of Thunder, Thor, and that's pretty awesome. The image shows a bit of Thor's armor, which looks remarkably similar to how it does in the Marvel comics and actually looks quite good. Unfortunately, without seeing anything else from the movie, we can't tell just how good the outfit looks. We have nothing to compare it to and, therefore, can't tell how well it fits into the universe and the film.

I never knew that the Norse Gods were into latex. I assume he'll be using an oversized black rubber dildo as a weapon instead of a hammer.

I'd watch that, i remember playing him on Marvel Ultimate Alliance and he seemed pretty bad ass

nick fury is getting a movie too from what I remember.

Jesus Christ, this whole line up of Avengers thing they've got going is going to be so damn awesome.

Can't wait.

I keep thinking, "Gee, I wonder how they're going to have enough time to show all of these characters properly in the Avengers" when I realised that the movie is almost certainly going to have absolutely no substance or coherence at all. Nice job Marvel. Your track record of movies is appalling.

Oh shut up Yorick. Iron man 2 was awesome. Avengers is going to be an ensemble movie, with lots of cameos. It will carry on storylines from the other movies probably. Not every movie needs to be a Lost in translation kind of movie, fags.

For the record, I haven't seen Iron Man 2 yet.

1. Cameos do not make a good film.
2. I highly doubt it's "carrying on storylines from other movies" so much as "putting 5 seconds of one film into another to tie them together in a really weak way."
3. No, obviously Comic Book movies most certainly should not be like Lost in Translation. They should be like The Dark Knight.
4. NOU.

You should, it's a good movie.
Not every comic book movie need to be like TDK to be good. Iron man 1 was a good film, and it's different. Think of The Avengers like oceans 11, but that it might turn out good. Most people here sports a big hard on for Joss Whedon, who is set to direct. So that might reassure you a little.

Yeah, that's what I said. Joss Whedon is directing.

My bro worked on some of the armor for whatever character Anthony Hopkins is playing.

Joss Whedon directing could be pretty awesome, he's hit and miss but when he lands it, it's pretty great.

Iron Man 1 wasn't bad, I actually liked most of it, but it lacked a decent villain.

I generally don't like superhero movies, but TDK and Iron Man are exceptions. However I think this "superhero team-up" is a bad idea. Each superhero should stay put in their own separate universe.

Christ it's weird seeing Chris Hemsworth in actual roles. I spotted him in Star Trek and it bugged the hell out of me, until I IMDB'd him and realised he was on Home & Away. D:

Apparently he's also the lead in the Red Dawn remake, heh.

But they're all in the same universe.

I don't remember Thor being this wimpy looking. The guy in the picture looks more like Eric Christian Olsen than Chris Hemsworth.

Alot of the new movies are based on the (party) original universe marvel and (more heavy based) ultimates universe

Eh, maybe he'll look better in motion.

he'll probably look better when he isn't photoshop

edit: actually no he won't his design is pretty terrible on the whole but then, i'm not a thor fan so i can't really talk.

His top half doesn't look too bad, superhero-wise. But his bottom half is really, really gay.

He also has a very unconvincing tough guy face. He looks like he's gonna cry in the second picture.

At least it wasn't Sam Worthington. He's in, like, everything.

Just when I think Marvel can't make any more terrible decisions about their movies, they go and do things like this.

He looks tougher in the OP. I think they overdid the photoshopping just a tad.

Ed: Oh Kenneth Brannagh is directing it, Joss is directing Avengers.

Brannagh making a superhero movie? Intriguing.

That's quite possibly the gayest, the gayest thing i've ever seen.
