First try @ webdesign layout

I've been talking alot about webdesign, so I gave it a try, I made this banner and a menu. Theme is Tribes : Vengeance. I'm looking for more tips and hints for the layouts

Nice layout. Good for your first try. Try to make the colors a little more vibrant and make it a little bigger so we can see it. Good job.

I think it looks nice too and good luck learning the code... I would start with HTML since it is probably the easiest to learn... then get to know some CSS and then PHP.

ye ofc, I started with html, and later when I'm good at ti ,css and php

Extremely nice for your first try. One thing, though; try workin' on your colors a little bit more.

At the mo, all I know is HTML, I'm gonna learn php and css.
So is CSS the best one to start off with and then move onto php ?

Quick question for you: How did you do the grid layout on the top banner? The only way I know how to do it is by laying each and every line which is too time consuming for me. Is there a shortcut I don't know about?

HTML - basic for websites, makes the website actually display
css - makes some style changes in HTML much easier
PHP - allows for dynamic pages and content, login systems, file uploaders.. etc.

FINALLY!!!I see a tribes fan on hl2.net!!!Yes it is for T:V....you can tell by the Imperial(Blue),blood eagle(red) and phoenix(yellowish) armors.Also I like the layout.GJ!You get a cookie....

hehe ye, I played 2years of Tribes 2, and I loved it, died a bit now. I'm waiting for T:V atm. hehe

for the grid :

you make a new image : 5x5 pixels, transparant layer.

then you draw this : _| at the right of the layer make a full black vertical line of 5pixels and then at the bottom make a horizontal line of 5pixels, the rest has to stay transparant. Select everything and go to edit : define pattern. Then you select the area where you want your grid > fill > pattern > the grid pattern. Then the area will be a grid. You can do the same for scanlines. Make a new image 2 pixels vertical wide 1 pixel horizontal. Make one pixel black , the other white. define pattern as (name) then fill it in the area you want

lol, Ive just been playin the demo of tribes 2, its AWSOME!!!, is it worth gettin the full version ?

lol if u like the demo, you're gonna love the full version. It's all patched up, the grafix are better etc. BUTTTTT , there is almost no community left. Only a few public servers that ppl play on ( not even alot). Sorry to tell you but you missed the days of T2 glory. It's practicly dead now. You should buy T:V when it's released, the community will bloom again then. at this time T2 is no longer worth buying. It was a year ago.

If u wanna know more about T:V ( tribes vengeance) go to www.tribalwar.com . Go to the T:V section and read and look at the screenshots and so on. The developers are really close with the community( unlike Valve) They post regularly on the forums in the section Tribal Talk. Interesting reads always.

I dunno if I should get it now , but I love the demo so much!

EDIT:, I just launched up all seeing eye, and browsed tribes 2, and basicly half the servers are empty , *sigh*

Well I was talking for Europe actually, I'm Belgian myself, and in Europe the T2 scene is really thin. The US community is a lot more active and so on but still not like it was and it should be. I wouldn't buy the game, but wait it out until T:V arrives.

You can get Tribes2 for less than $20usd so even if it's not as huge as CS it's not a big investment either. I say go for it.

Wow, sometimes I want to shoot myself in the face. I just spent 20 minutes trying to get this grid pattern fill to work and it never looked right to me. Then, after repeating it about half a million times, I realized that I was zoomed out to 66% on the image I was trying to apply the grid to. I zoom in and find out I'd been doing it right the whole time only it looked wrong because of the zoom.

CSS is ridiculously easy to learn. I'll see if I can dig up the sites I learnt it from. PHP is a different matter, but a decent book will get you well on the way.
