So I've just finished one week in college, had some classes and seen the campus and all that (which is why I haven't been postng at my usual rate of 16 posts a day D:).

And I have to say that I have mixed feelings about this whole college thing. On the one hand the freedom to do what youwant when you want is great, but I miss almost everything that I had to leave back home, including the kitchen sink (Sinky ;(). I'm suffering intense internet withdrawal (the first years cant use the net facility in the hostels). I miss my wonderful, wonderful music collection. And most of all I miss my friends back home. Well, they have probably moved to various places as well.

So any word of advice, any funny/interesting stories from your college days you can post here.

Haha, why aren't you drunk RIGHT NOW?

My first week of college involved pretty much living on takeaway and beer.. my bed was so springy that I couldn't sleep on it sober, so unless I was battered, I'd sleep on the chairs in the living room. I have plenty stories of my antics in my first year.. and from last night haha

Yeah my first year was incredible, and the first week was completely awesome as well, **** the internet, go out and get slammered son.

i remember the days when as a first year i used to lock my room door even if i had to take a pee. one day when i got back from class ,some wiseguys had removed the entire door...lock, bolts and all. I went an entire week without any door to my room.

ummmm, it doesn't sound like he's in a college that revolves around drinking and partying like most in the US - he's in india in a college that doesn't let him use the internet.
Make new friends and start chasing girls if your bored.

count your blessings the lot of you. i have to somehow raise one and a half grand in the next three weeks if i am going to be able to return to college. so i think i will have to role a few rich grannys. (kiddin....maybe)

WhEEEEEEEEeeeee!!!!!

There's news that our hostel block may finally be WiFied (all the other blocks already are), so maybe the internetz will come back! Anyways, I have been to a few parties, but lets just say my first priority isnt to get drunk/laid.

Anyway, we got our laptops (arranged by the college) and I already have 1 gig of music on it. And some 'unique' vids :naughty:

Sadly, our classes have begun fullswing, so now there's a lot of homework and shit to do, but life's still great.

And no, I will not let this thread die.

The first week always suxs. I mean the parking is hell. But all in all, its not too bad. I like all my classes and my teachers are not soo hard.
As for advice...Dont do what Ikerous did. Dont go to class stoned.

My first day of classes is on Wednsday, I moved in yesterday but I came back home to get things I forgot and am going back monday. The only thing that I'm worried about is being late for class because the halls are atleast a mile from the dorms and I dont have anything but my feet.

First week of my second year of Uni begins soon.

Can't ****ing wait, dirty freshers - FAF week etc :D

Much boozing to do !

I skipped my first 'would be boozing' event, the introduction camp. Why? In their infinite wisdom, the school combined the studies of IT, technical IT (don't know if that's the correct term) and something with electrics, for the camp. Which means like a total of 5 girls, if that. One. Big. Sausagefest.

Nope, i'ts - **** a Fresher week

:p

What uni are you at? That's what it's called up here in Edinburgh too. Prolly a common term in the UK tho. And good luck! Let us know your score! Mine was 3 last year, not bad for a fresher I thought. Gotta try and beat that this year. Heheheh

As for advice...Dont do what Ikerous did. Dont go to class stoned.

This, I wholeheartedly agree with. I went to my entire first year stoned. Either that or sat around getting stoned instead of going to my first year. Resulted in a lot of resits. :( Thankfully I've learned from my mistakes and am now off the stuff, for the most part. Education FTW lol

I'm at Lincoln mate.. yeah it's a common term in the UK

My score last year was only 2 for fresher's week, as I didn't really want to get a reputation as a sleazey ****..

But yeah, it's very much on :D

forget this place, i'm only here cos i'm bored. uni's fantastic, forget your music collection and start collecting STD's instead.

Or get the guy to wrap up? Wild suggestion there... Uni's all about promiscuity. Unless you're in a relationship. With a few exceptions depending on how cool/naughty/adventurous your partner is.

I mean, if it wasn't for all the sex, how could anyone put up with all the work they throw at you?

to be honest there isn't that much work with uni academic courses, you have ALOT of free time.

anyway sex without a condom is much better, not that it applies to me that much anymore.

OMG. Like... are you a lesbian? Cause like, we had no idea what with your obscurity on that fact.

This is true, and it's also bloody easy to think 'sod it' if the girl says she's on the pill..

yeah i can understand that all too well. easy to think sod it if i'm on it too, but i learnt the hard way that condoms are often necessary. going to the doctor for those problems sucks.

I've been ****ing lucky so far.. I have a big fear of the test they do on you..

It's a bit more painful for guys :|

Yeah dude, the whole point of college is to get out of the whole "internet rules my life" mindset and get yourself hammered. You'd be suprised how much drugs bring people together. :imu:

Haha, the kitchen sink :D. Last year I didn't have a sink in my room so I had to go across the hall to wash my hands, or wash dishes, or brush my teeth. It seems annoying at first but it's actually a good way to force yourself out of your room and meet the people on your hall.

I probably had the most boring first year in college of anyone I know. I didn't really do much, although I did get really involved with the environmental center (which I've always liked) and got to do random crap on campus like gardening and recycling with lots of cool people. Other than that, my classes weren't really that easy (I started out in some sophomore classes) so I did a lot of studying. There was plenty of free time though.... playing games, sleeping through lunch, staring out into space and then realizing 3 hours have passes and you've done nothing productive...... Ahh, good times.

And actually my parents are still on dialup at home whereas my dorm has a really fast awesome connection. So going to school was like "Yay better internet."

Erm... What course are you doing? Mine is a whole lot of work. Like too much. Lots of maths. And chemistry. And engineering. :( Any free time I do have, I really should be spending it studying. I mean, I dont, but I should.

On your other point, however, I totally agree, which is why I get regular checkups just to be on the safe side. I'd hate to be unknowingly spreading diseases or anything about.

It's a bit more painful for guys :|

Really? All I've ever been asked to do is to pee in a small cup. Never been subjected to anything particularly painful/intrusive...

Heh yeah I get that this year :) Me and my flatmate have invested in 16 meg DSL with no monthly limits. So it's going to be a mixture of internet/work/drinking/lil bit of drugs/sex.

Also everyone in my halls/dorm/whatever had en-suites so we never met in communal washrooms or anything, but we all ended up meeting each other to get stoned anyway. The smell just seemed to lure people to rooms for socialising. There ended up being big weekly sessions where everyone met up to get really baked and watch lost. And battlestar galactica, but that was with my drinking friends, not my smoking friends.

Seriously though, for anyone starting uni, don't overdo intoxicants in your first year. I mean they're fun and all, and good for a little relaxation now and then, but they can totally f**k your grades if you take them too far. That and eat up all your money. Specially if you end up spending it all on takeaways because you constantly have the munchies.

Chemical engineering?? Fun stuff :D.

Well.. It was until about the second lecture. And I realised I couldn't just coast through it doing no work like school. But its cool, I get to make all sorts of drugs/explosives/chemical weapons/artificial ingredients when I'm finished. Muahaha! :naughty:

Tear gas... I always was sooo tempted to make tear gas in ochem lab. It would've been so easy, all you had to do was get the bromine for a bromine test or something, and then "accidentally" clean your test tube with acetone, and then pull down your gas mask and run around spraying everyone. Ok so maybe it wouldn't look like an accident...

We also did this lab where you make glow in the dark green stuff, and just before lab, I happened to think it would be neat to make oreos with glow-in-the-dark cream. I don't know why I thought of it. Anyways, we were making luminol, which is the stuff they use on crime scenes to detect blood since it reacts with the iron or something.... and it only glows for a short time after contact with the blood or blood substitute. So the oreo thing wouldn't have worked unless you turned out the lights and bled into the cream. Also, it was probably toxic or carcinogenic. But ehhh, carcinogens, who cares... glow-in-the-dark oreos!!

Hahah, gotta love rumours - I was damn sure you got a swab shoved up your urethra :|

wish i was back at college.....i hate the real world

A senior told me that he was beaten up when he first joined. And all this talk of drugs scares me D:

Anyway, I think I've settled down now, life is getting kinda boring. No more parties for a coyuple of weeks. We spend what little time we get at the hostels discussing sex, girls (and associated topics like boobs), movies, songs etc. And then we crack some jokes about girls, sex and buttsex.

Just the other day we were discussing the morality of squirrel f*cking and I remembered Ikerious(sp?).

Is there anyone else here into Electronics and Communication?

Wow the university of Lincoln does some jokes courses
Hmmmm anyone feel like studying 'Furniture' for 3 years?
How about Acupuncture?

Im sure your studying something wholly academic Mr Badger..

so your college was at first crap and now boring? dude your uni sounds lame. uni's about drinking too much essentially, everything else, drugs, sex, they'll follow.

it's like being the hulk, you just have to drink alot, transform, then wake up knowing you've done some damage..

that may have been the stupidest analogy i've ever made.

I do History :p

Some Lincoln departments are new, some like Arcitecture and History are the old University of Humberside faculties
