Ok, When I first bought hl2 it crashed right after the trainstation and only there. I fixed it. Now it was crashing right after you jump the dam. The thing that fixed it for me was to completely uninstall steam and totally re-download and re-install hl2. I am about 90% sure that this will fix it, if it is happening at the same spot in the game every time.
If the problem is random and like every 5 minutes, then it is probably something wrong with your system/hardware.
Keep me updated on weather this works for you. Best to do overnight.
