Fixed The Memory Problem

I uninstalled/reinstalled steam, redownloaded HL2 and now it works--go figure.

Only 1 problem remains:

I get these white boxes with X's in them where lights should appear. The light is still there, but I also get the white box with it. Anyways, it's not too distracting so I'm playing through the game reguardless...I've waited too damn long.

Has anyone experienced what I'm talking about though?

Well, I haven't experienced this problem in Half-Life 2 but I have experienced something similar to this in Neverwinter Nights by BioWare. In that, it replaces all the character portraits and many of the item icons with white boxes. Many of the in-game objects are affected as well. In that it almost always happens after I update my video drivers.
