how do i know for sure it worked?

i know that i have to uninstall, flah and then reinstall the drivers, but how do i know i have the 16 pipelines
 
Use ati tool then go into settings and it will display the pipe lines and clocks etc. If the flashed work it should also say X800XT PE in the ati control panel...
 
I think he did get a VIVO, that's what he said he was doing. So did it work?! I may just end up getting an X800 pro VIVO with these new drivers boosting the performance, I wanna know how your's turned out. So did it work?!
 
my comp now says i have a xt pe ati, but in at tool i only have 12 pipelines, is it wring? or should i reflash my original bios?
 
Shit, uh oh I dunno. What brand of X800 pro was it, which BIOS did you use? We need Asus in here. Or ask on the Rage3D forums. It's not wrong.

Yes, that gives me more reassurance that the x800 pro VIVO may be a better choice after all. So have you played any games yet? No artifacts?
 
get a sapphire vivo, that is what i have, no problems at all. der bomb

ummm how do u flash? what's a vivo? Can i flash my ATI 9600XT 128mb into anything?
 
Wait..so all you need is to flash the bios, no hardware modding? How do you flash the bios of a video card?
 
hehe kind of like my question. Maybe you can flash your 9600pro to 9600XT, although you still won't get the kick ass overdrive feature :(
 
its only on particular models like the x800 or 9500. Dont go slapping 9800 bios on your 9600 etc as chances are you will cause an unrecoverable flash.
I dont think the 9600 is flashable to anytihn unfortunately

How do you know if youre buying a Vivo card or not?
ATI4EVER: If I am not poor when I go out to buy a video card, I'm probably getting a 6800 GT, otherwise just a plain 6800.

It's possible but you need to do a hardware modification.
X800pro's have the other 4 pipelines locked so you need to do a modification that unlocks them. THEN you flash your bios to an X800XT. Whether they are good or bad pipelines is another matter. You will know if you get artifacts or not.

The good deal with the Vivos is that the pipelines are not locked but just not in use, because of the bios. All you do is flash the bios to an X800XT PE and it should work. Sapphire took X800XT chips and used them in their X800Pro Vivo (Video In feature) cards.

Vivo is simply the addition of a Video In or capture feature on specific models. Note that it isn't every Vivo card but only the X800Pro Vivo cards.
 
erm, i read the post where they said not to flash 9800 bioses in 9600s, but is there anyway i can get another 4 pipelines unlocked in my 9600XT?


I don't think so, but is there?
