Recently bought a XFX Geforce 8800GT and installed into a fairly old motherboard. Works like a dream, but now the physical props in Episode 2, TF2 and Portal flash.

It seems the shaders that exist are not applied onto the prop and is making the texture flash a transparent black.

This could be a 'compatible error' with my motherboard, however it supports PCI-e -completely-. Drivers are up to date and changing shader settings didn't help either.

Any suggestions will help but I'm buying a new motherboard and quad core later on, which may fix it.
And if it doesn't, I'll report in.

Which ever comes first :D

I doubt the motherboard is at fault. Only the GPU handles stuff you see on screen. Probably a driver thing. If you want you could try turning AA off if you have it on. Or try other quality settings to see if makes any difference. But it probably is just an issue with that specific driver version.

Try an older one and also the newest.

something weird.

try turning down anistropic filtering to x8 or less''

and/or turning down anti-aliasing

or make either/both of those application controlled.

I had issues with HL2 shit flashing with my old card until I told the program target to use more V memory or something.

EDIT: show us a screenshot or 2

A lot worse in game. Happens to rocks, canisters etc in Ep 2.

Doesn't do it anymore, I cleaned up the old drivers for my SLi cards.
And installed the drivers once more.

Yay for me, I guess :>
