Flowing Water Questions.

Water i Source looks good .. but. What if would want
to make flowing water like a stream och river ?
Im thinking of making a waterfall on one map a have in mind.
I want the waterfall to look similar to whats in this video.

Is it even possible ?
 
I remember hearing that source does not have any water physics, so that possibly means that no you cannot make a waterfall. I am sure there is someway to figure it out though, at least make something that gives the impression of a waterfall.
 
In hl1 this was accomplished with an animated texture which looked like a waterfall. As far as I can tell, no such textures were included in source sdk, so I guess you would have to make your own. Have fun getting it to look good next to the realistic water in source tho... Perhaps you could google Niagra falls or something.
 
A waterfall is easy

Faster the water (in the case of a waterfall) the less reflective it'll appear.. just make fast/whiter looking rushing water textures, transparency and built it up with a few layers to give it some depth.. then use some particles, large gas like effects to get the water mist, add sound and your sorted.. use mist between the joins at the top where regular water goes to the rushing water, also consider overlays to add a little extra animated touch to blend the two styles together

Pretty simple to do really.
 
Yea, TDE is right. HL2 soesn`t have fluid dynamics so you have to use some tricks to make it appears like waterfalls. The shaders in HL2 will help alot to achieve a realistic effect.
