Shame if it is the only footage we'll see, but I want MOAR! I love alternate stuff like this.

know this is shameless promotion. I know this is only designed to whet my appetite for the "Back to the Future" 25th Anniversary DVD and Blu-ray, which comes out two weeks from today.
It's working.
From CNN.com, a brief snippet from the "Tales from the Future" documentary, in which director Robert Zemeckis, writer Bob Gale, and executive producer Steven Spielberg all talk about the decision to replace original "Back to the Future" star Eric Stoltz with Michael J. Fox 5 weeks (!!!) into production. The clip, embedded below, also includes three shots of Stoltz as Marty, interacting with Crispin Glover and Christopher Lloyd, and walking through Hill Valley's iconic town square. According to this article by Devin Faraci on CHUD.com, Zemeckis had only promised three Stoltz "snippets" on the new Blu-ray, which means this clip below may be all you get if and when you buy it.
The previous "BTTF" DVD included stills of Stoltz as Marty, but no footage. The shots below featuring Stoltz look identical to ones with Fox in the finished "BTTF" so the effect of watching them is like adding another layer of alternate reality to the film's time travel stew. It's as if Zemeckis and company DeLorean'd five weeks back in time, tossed Stoltz into the Hill Valley Clocktower, and shoved McFly into the mix.
