Valve have issued a press release today announcing plans to sell the new Football Manager 2009 via Steam and the game will also incorporate Steamworks.
Steamworks will support both the retail and electronic versions of the Football Manager 2009 games giving players game updates, downloadable content, and patches. Also, players will be able to play from any PC in the world without needing their DVD copy of the game. STEAM will also host and distribute the Football Manager 2009 game demo which will be available when it is released a couple of weeks before the release of the full game.
Football Manager 2009 is now available for pre-purchase from STEAM, and will be available for players to play at 09:00 GMT on the 14th November 2008. You can read more at the Steam Website.

Woot, all we need now is Konami to put pen to paper and get Pro Evolution over here too. Fingers crossed. Evo you must be very pleased to see this :)

Aw, I thought it was American football. :(

You mean American soccer?

I'll be tempted by this tbh, despite never owning a football management game and being out of touch with goings on in the premiership in recent years...

Steam just makes buying stuff too damn easy.

No, I mean gridiron football.

I would never compare Rugby to American Football. It'd be like comparing cooking to programming.

Or comparing one of the most manly and dangerous contact sports you can play to a glorified game of catch.

Should probably drop the conversation before it escalates into a Rugby vs. American Football argument.
