And it's true because the Daily Star says so:

FOOTBALL stars are so addicted to video games they are wrecking their performances, it was claimed. They stay up into the early hours playing the night before important matches. And sports psychotherapist Steve Pope says Manchester United, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal stars have all had problems. Joe Cole, 28, David James, 40, and Cesc Fabregas, 23, have admitted in the past to spending hours glued to their consoles. But there is no indication they are among those receiving help or that their game has suffered.

Mr Pope said: “I have worked with players in the top four clubs of the Premier League, two Championship clubs and my local side, Fleetwood Town. We were travelling with one player who had played a video game for seven hours on the coach. He hadn’t taken any fluids on board and hadn’t eaten. He’d then gone to his room and missed the Friday evening talk and meal. They all seem to love Modern Warfare 2.”

Even the players of Fleetwood Town ... What is this world coming to?

So thats why England were so rubbish at the world cup...

Quick! We must start shipping as many video games as possible to our European neighbours. We'll win Euro 2012 yet!

I wonder if they play football games?

Well I've read before that Fabregas and Defoe are PES fans, just not addicted to it like me. :p Must be weird playing as your own team and finding the stats for yourself are lower than expected. I bet Heskey doesn't like his own stats.

Why the hell not, I say. I'd rather they were keeping their minds on football in their recreation time - even in the most tenuous imaginable sense - than pissing in beer glasses and sodomising minors.

On the other hand, if you find that you've been overrated by biased researchers, it could be worth a few extra hours worth of play for escapism's sake. Gabby Agbonlahor is a 40 goal a season player in Football Manager 2010 :D Heskey is pretty solid too, tbh.

Not that I think they'd play Football Manager over PES/FIFA ;(

"Football stars hooked on phonics"

I refuse to read it any other way.

Modern Warfare 2 seems to have become the representative for all games.
