Anyone who has BBC 2 (A TV channel) should be able to see the new TV programme starting tonight at 8 pm. In the programme they use Rome: Total War, where 4 people fight against the A.I.

Its going to be good, because the game hasnt yet been released, so this is a chance to see lots of in game action.

By the way, you should check out Rome:Total War, it looks set to be a great game

Yes it is.

This idea of using games in a TV programme reminds my of those crappy 90's things where they super imposed a person onto some stupid flat 3d environment and tried to make it look like they really were in a dungeon!

However, i think we have reached the level of technology where this will work great :)

Yeah.

I didn't know that it was Rome: Total War. I thought it was just a game that looked like it.

Knightmare was great!

I can't believe you didn't like Knightmare.

Well, its not that i didn't like it. I mean, at the time it was fun. But they still make those kinds of things now, even though they are so dated. They don't show them on proper TV much, its normally stuff like "challenge TV" on sky and stuff like that. At first i thought they were re runs, but from stuff being said i realised that they are infact very recent.
One thing i always found weird was when they reached cliff edges. I mean, its like...

"No stop! Its a cliff edge! If you keep walking you will die!"

If i were the guy in the mask being directed, i would just run around the blue studio going mental. Or, if i was directing them i would get them trapped in a room or something.

Yeah, i just saw the advert for this programme! Realised it was based on the rome:total war engine and was about to post, looks cool.

I wonder if they'll be using a normal pc for the interface?

Im not sure exactly, but they have this weird Map in the middle of the room which they all stand around. It has different coloured rectangles on it which they move round.

cool....I just thought it was some nerds playin it lol....15mins to go1!!!11111!

No, they have proper people who know stuff about the history of it all. At least thats what i understand it to be. I don't think they are going to have any nerds on it. I'm wondering if they even get their hands on a mouse. I was thinking that, they move the things around on the map and it is somehow linked with the game or they have people controlling it for them. Anyway, it starts in less than 10 minutes so I'm gonna go downstairs now.

WOW, the graphics for Rome:total war are amazing!

Imagine playing it from a third person view as a solider!

meh....is wasnt as good as I expected it to be...the animations kinda sucked tho ;( , but the gameplay looks brill. Also...I loved that ambush that they planned, where they came right out of the trees and WHAM!

Well that was quite cool. Considering the game isnt technically finished it was pretty good. I really wanna get this game :)
Although, those guys didnt exactly use the tactical map thing, i mean it was a bit pointless to be honest. They had what i thought though, a couple of people on computers doing what they were told. :P

I don't know really. I think i might have played it similar to them. It is hard to tell though, because i didn't get to look at the place the way i wanted.

I wouldn't have made the mistake of thinking they only had cavalry on one side though :)

I may have held my cavalry back a bit so i could come in from the back. Perhaps though, i would have sent in one unit of cavalry to engage them, then come around the back of the engaged units with a second unit of cavalry.

To be honest, they had sling shot guys that they didnt even use!! They could of easily weakened the romans before they sent the infantry into them.
I agree with sparrow on the cavalry. i would of sent them into the back of the army, the romans would be trapped, be very hard for the romans to run away...
An excellent program tho, I deffinetly will watch the other ones...

Nice screenshots. I can see myself spending many long nights playing this game at 2fps.

Well that sucks....I live in america and I don't have BBC.I always like the total war series great stratgey game.

At times like this I wish I had satellite to get me some bbc 2 here :(

It was pretty cool the way they set up the ambush in a similar way to the real hannibal, but i think the real hannibals overall strategy was better, where he engaged the infantry and then brought the cavalry in from both sides to crush them!

Hannibal is teh 1337!:cheese:

Is it a series, i wonder what battle they will do next, considering it's all roman, maybe they'll do a boudicia battle!?

I only started watching at 8:30, what happened before then?

I think it was really funny when the Lieutenants were saying "Shouldn't we engage the Cavelry on the other side?" and the Generals were going, "There isn't any on the other side".

Then the voiceover kicked in "The General's have made a Grave Error, they have failed to engage All of the the Cavalry"

Heh.

The big table in the middle was pretty pointless, they just seemed to just bash the pieces about randomly.

I suppose they need to keep track...

Hmmmm, maybe i should buy a new house, and a massive strategy table so i can plan out all my attacks and stuff when i get Rome:TW. MAybe you'll get it cheaper with the game.:cheese:
