Does anyone know how to force this damnable program to update? Counter-Strike is jammed at 98% but refuses to launch the update window, only allowing me to "Always keep this program up to date"- trickle updating is the most useless feature ever included with Steam from the point of view of a 56ker. I don't fancy playing online with 1500 ping minimum, and I'm not prepared to leave the bloody thing on for ages as it flashes between "Requires Update" and "Updating, 33.9kb/s".
Gah, NS/SC needs more players (and less Combat. Blarrgh). Failing that some other dev needs to release a better dialup game. We're talking CS here, so that can't be hard...
And is there anyway to permanently switch off the "Always keep this program up to date" rubbish? It keeps enabling itself on restarts and updates and its getting to me.
