[FONT=verdana, arial, helvetica]I don’t have a windows installation CD but I have my advent system recovery disc. It allows me to do a quick format on my computer but not a full reformat. Should I just go with the quick option?

I believe a quick format is the same deal as a "full" reformat, only it takes a much shorter time. I've done the quick format a good few times, and it worked fine with a Windows installation. However, I think the insane speed it offers is balanced by a much higher chance of errors while formatting.

And if you do format the drive, you will lose everything, including the OS, so without that Windows disc, you're going to be making yourself a very large temporary paperweight :) So you may want to look for a recovery option as opposed to an actual format option, as most recovery discs allow you to repair or reinstall an existing OS.

yes i dont quite see your point for formatting if you dont have a windows installation or are you plannning to run something else?

Quick format = just format the drive (very short)
Full format = format and double checks itself (long time)

Is this a prebuilt system? Like a dell, hp, gateway etc?
If the disk as all the drivers for the system board/network/sound etc and also allows you to install windows then that is all you need. Any CD key for Windows with it?
