While this site may live on for a long time as an insatiable corpse-god of the old ways, the before-cell-phones-had-touch-screens days, the before-every-other-user-tried-to-get-away-with-generative-ai days, it is inevitable that all things change, and other things disappear. Not as a consequence of failure or negligence, but the entropy of our universe, and the ever marching parade towards the abyss we sometimes mock and sometimes respect.
Despite what might be believed, the shifting of our culture towards one ran by silent transformers in the background did not dissuade those of us who found some comfort in creative expression, because rather than be replaced, our style became even more unique, and even more sought after. ...To maintain that, or improve it, requires some ego and some dedication, which I have one of, but not the other.
However, this website is a treasure, our history and childhood, the coming of age of many users here, and the rest having to tolerate them. We will always retain a history of these times in more poetic, story-form, to tell occasionally to a newcomer or old friend, but I am more interested in the absolute archiving of posts, and redundant storage, as even the most insane or apparently useless threads can, in some distant time, be a comfort, for a moment; or perhaps forgotten forever, but knowing it's safe; that's a comfort on its own.

Snapshots of previous versions of the forum, if available... source code, full server structures minus personal messages, which should probably be purged. The CDN, media libraries. I had fun taking a moment to write a fun forum post for once, as it's been a long time since I really posted on a forum and enjoyed it; reddit doesn't count, and never has. And no one may respond or no one who can do anything may respond, it's worth a try. More plainly, let's archive this forum as it is at the time of archival, and save it in a few different places. Alternatively, prepare the archive, and release it when the site finally does go down.. who knows when.
