Well I got so fed up with the every 5-6 seconds the game pausing just in time for someone to talk around a corner and kill me, that i started taking everything apart tell i foudn the issue. And the issue was my wireless network. I hard wired to the cable modem, and my issues went away, nice smooth gameplay. Back on wireless, and every 6 seconds a 1-2 second pause. And i have 802.11G 54MBPS wireless, and im 1 room away. Not sure whats causing the issue becouse i dont know enough about wireless transmitting, etc. But I know that it worked in everything else, except CS:Source.

So if anyone else is having the issue i was and on wireless, try bypassing the wireless. Its a crappy solution I know, but its all i have for now

uninstall zone alarm
perhaps the firmware on you router is the problem?

type cl_smooth 0 into the console.

I Noticed CS:S Servers lagg more then CZ or is it just me?

People want to watch using this "fix" since it stops backup packets being sent to and from the server....yes it helps your bandwidth problems but causes other people trouble when you lag or lose packets and causes you bullet reg problems when those you are trying to shoot are lagging or losing packets.

For me the best fix was stopping zonealarm, I didn't have to uninstal it just turned it off and my bungee lag went away,

I also use:

cl_lagcompensation 1
cl_lagcomp_errorcheck 1

These two SEEM to help my bullet reg a lot.

You might also want to play with the following commands:

cl_rate
cl_updaterate
cl_cmdrate

By default they are set very low for broadband connections. I would have a latency under 50, and still be getting heavy lag. By using netgraph 3 I noticed I had a lot of choke. Sometimes up to 80 or more, making the game unplayable. My default rate was set at 2500, my updaterate at 20 and my cmdrate at 30. I changed those to 25000, 75, and 100 respectively and I'm now completely lag free.
