Here's what I don't understand. Fox has the ability of knowing the "real" facts...they purposefully lie to the viewers; do they just cater to the older generations assuming they wont double click that big "E" icon on their 10 year old desktop computers and do a little research?

they're not catering to an older generation because they appeal to all age groups. no, they're catering to stupid and judging from ratings, america has an over abundance of stupid.
 
Oh the lolz. What a bunch of crap. For neocons like O'Reilly Amsterdam probably is a Sodom and / or Gomorrah. Weed and hashish are indeed semi-legal; I am smoking a joint with Morocco's finest polm at the moment. And lets not forget legal prostitution, gay marriage, legal abortion and other stuff that lies extremely sensitive in the US.

A side note though. The Dutch government has always condoned (gedogen we call it here) all kinds of things that were actually illegal, but in the last couple of years things have gotten a lot more strict. F.e. shrooms used to be semi-legal too, but it is forbidden since a couple of months to sell them. Another example: the municipality of Amsterdam has made the area where prostitutes can sit behind windows to gawk their wares so to say, a lot smaller. That is partly due to the fact that the whole gedogen system has one big problem: since it is semi-legal, parts of it still are considered criminal facts. Buying weed for yourself is no problem, but having large amounts on you (think a pound or more) will result in jail time when caught. Because of this the weed business is ran by criminals, and the police have been cracking down on them with more intensity lately.

The best solution would be to totally de-criminalize the weed trade, but there is no majority in the Dutch parliament to make that happen. Plus the Netherlands would be in a lot of trouble with other European countries when weed would become totally legal. Maybe Arnie's suggestion will change some people's opinion. If politicians can tax something, it becomes a lot more interesting.

Not really. Some of 'em are getting forcibly shut down, but these are usually the places where other stuff like coke or pills are sold. There are still over 50 pot cafes (or coffee shops as they are called) in Amsterdam.
 
Ok, this is my opinion, and although Amsterdam may not exactly be a cesspool, I am unable to grasp why any self-respective government would allow, or condone, or tolerate those..... things.



I feel that I'm limited in my choice of words (especially adjectives) as not to offend anyone, since I am aware that the subject of illegal narcotics and prostitution is a touchy one for many members here. No doubt I will be flamed for this post.

No offense numbers, but you don't even believe the citizens of your country should be allowed to dissent. You honestly have kind of a warped mind on a lot of these issues.
 
I wonder how large a percentage of the US population thinks by default that you should never think that there's any credibility to any of the so called news that Fox reports on (pulls out of their ass?) these days.

These are the same things that happen every day in America. The difference is, you don't get thrown in jail for it. i.e having a good time without going paranoid insane, racing down the highways, running from cops and endangering lives.

Seriously, what's the big deal with these things? Marijuana is one of the safest known drugs, and it's certainly much safer than the under-tested laboratory drugs that doctors and shrinks prescribe.

Sex? We all know the dangers of sex with prostitutes, that goes with the territory. If you are paying for sex you are one sad **** anyway, who probably doesn't give a shit.
