Yup, saw this one coming

"While there has been no official word on this so far I?m hearing it from enough sources very close to the film itself and the principals involved that I?m quite confident reporting it as fact. Word is out that Fox has yanked control of upcoming video game adaptation away from director Xavier Gens. This happens from time to time if a director turns in weak footage but that is not the case here. After being hired to shoot an adaptation of the ultra-violent video game Gens took Asian action films such as The Killer and A Bittersweet Life as his starting point and turned in an explicitly violent, very bloody cut of the film that apparently included a number of head shots and extreme gore moments that would have guaranteed the film a hard R rating. Which really shouldn?t have been any sort of surprise if the studio execs had been paying any attention at all - it?s not like they wouldn?t have seen the dailies or effects work ahead of time - but apparently after seeing Gens? cut of the film the studio removed him from the project and placed Nicolas De Toth in control of a new edit of the film. Who?s De Toth? He?s the man behind the edit of Live Free Or Die Hard, a job he was hired for specifically to turn in an entirely bloodless version of the film and word is that this is his task with Hit Man as well. So what are we going to get? A bloodless version of the film assembled with no input whatsoever from Gens. Very sad considering just how promising the trailers have been so far."

Wow, another Live Free or Die Hard fiasco? Great. Just f*cking great. Not that this movie was going to be excellent, but it could have been a bit of violent, bloody fun.

Honestly, Fox, it's called Hitman for a reason. People die. In bloody and disturbing ways.

Hopefully there will be a Director's Cut on DVD at some point. At least it wouldn't be a total loss then.

And the main actor still looks nothing like Agent 47.

Is there still hope left for this? Yes but not much, not much at all.
 
i dont expect movie publishers to throw out a worthy film adaptation, but damn, that really blew away all hope. die hard 4 was decent but only because of willis.

Yeah, poor actor choice... but Timothy Olyphant is a great actor though, loved him in Deadwood and The Girl Next Door.

I would've thought the guy from The Shield might've been a good choice... but he's a bit too bulky for the part.

Jason Statham would have been much better, this type of movie is what he lives for.

Olyphant actually isn't bad imo, he has quite a sinister look which is cool. He was really good in GO
 
John Malkovich would have been an awsome choice, his part as the hitman in Ripley's Game was absolutely amazing. He wouldn't look exactly like Agent 47 on the game, but he one of the best when it comes to pulling off and dark and cold approach to character.
 
Statham might be okay for the role... until he opened his mouth.

John would be a good choice if they were giving it a more intellectual spin rather than just balls-out action. He seems to take his roles a bit more seriously.

Have you ever seen Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels? Much much better than Transporter. I'm sure Statham has the ability pull off a convincing Agent 47.

Jason Statham could have grown a pony tail, a beard and walk around in a mechanical orange suit whilst brandishing a large crowbar and he would still have been more Hitman than the Olyphant dude.
 
I think he was more confused as to who or what you were directing that comment at.
 
Trailer is exactly how I pictured it. Hitman has to be filled with slow motion scenes with classical music in the background, with a silent Agent 47 walking around coolly and calmly, killing without remorse.

However, the actor's physique fails terribly for this movie.
