Ok heres the deal, im playing HL2:DM and its all going smoothly, not a hitch. Then after x amount of minutes, suddenly my FPS drops to 1.

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 1 (2600.xpsp2.040919-1003)
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.80GHz, ~600MH Memory: 1024MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
MOBILITY RADEON 9000 AGP 32.0 MB
SigmaTel Audio

any ideas?

Virus scanner cutting in?
Some things auto come on due to internet connection from the game.

no virus scanner, or anything like that.

I have a dell laptop. I have encountered this with other games, people suggested that it was an overheating problem, but it went away on the other games only to resurface here...

i have speed fan to watch my temp, but when the FPS dropped, i looked at the temp logs and none of the 2 sensors (the one on the harddrive and umm what is ACPI mean? thats the other sensor) showed anything overheating

Perhaps a memory leak? That's the only thing I can think of.

Try giving the game some more of your system memory.

Right click the game you want to play, properties,
launch options, type: -heapsize 524288 this will give your game 500 MB of Ram instead of 64MB.

hmm thats interesting, ive gone back to playing bf1942, and i have the problem there too :flame:

Does your computer still have warranty? If you do, you should put all critical files you want to keep on another computer and send it in.
