FRAPS-Freakin Rarely-working Assy Program thats Shit

I'm becoming aggravated with the game/film recording program FRAPS.
At first, I used the trial, and all worked fine, but 30 seconds wasn't enough time.

So I got a registered full version, the first attempt was fine, but after a day or so, it stopped recording sound. Ok, a quick uninstall/reinstall could fix that, right? WRONG! After the reinstall, sound gets recorded, but it only records .WMV films, NOT games. I hit the record button, and all looks like its working. When I go to edit the clip I recorded in Windows Movie Maker, the clips don't appear to have been recorded. I JUST tried to record a CS BOT assault on CS_Italy in GMOD (if thats maybe the problem(the game)) about 5 minutes ago, and the last recorded film was on 5-2-2008.

I know I'm doing it wrong, but what am I doing wrong?

OK. This maybe helpful or maybe not, so, I'm just going to put it out there.
XP (I don't know about Vista) has a bad habit of uninstalling programs but, leaving traces behind, like: program folder, registry key, contents in the Prefetch folder(If programs is designed to hook system) intact.
So, once in a blue moon (More often than a blue moon) when you get a bad-install or program becomes corrupted, and you would like to uninstall-reinstall, you must visit those areas I have mentioned above and manually delete their traces, then reboot.
Why? Because XP is designed to search versions of the program, settings, directory, keys in the system to shortcut installations. If the problem lies somewhere along the area I have mentioned; no matter how many times you have reinstalled, you will most likely end up with the same problem.

Good Luck.

You don't need fraps to make movie's using the source engine, btw - although normally it is easier to use fraps.

BAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAA

Either your system is crap, the version of fraps you "got" (nice way of avoiding saying "stole" without lying and saying "bought" by the way) is faulty or a fake "cracked" version, or you're just not smart enough to use something simple like fraps. I leave it to you to decide.

Oh Man! Don't do that.

I've never had a problem with FRAPS. :|

So what's the problem, exactly? Jesus christ, I'm chalking this one up to user error I think. Mess around with it and I'm sure you'll get it eventually.

See, the last part of your post is really confusing. You use the word "record" interchangeably with another word you should be using in its place, because you're apparently "recording" something in Windows Movie Maker, but I have no sweet ****ing clue what.

Explain the problem in better English so maybe we can diagnose it. Consider writing out the steps of what you're trying to do, such as where Windows Movie Maker comes into the equation.

Wow did you come up with that acronym all by yourself?

Will this work in GMOD as well?

Is GMOD a Source game?

SHOULD ANSWER YER FVCKIN QUESTION.

This is the guy who thought taking screenshots was done by photographing your monitor with a camera.

Yup. If you have the trial version of fraps and uninstall it, it leaves behind some code that stops you from running the full version. This is the problem i have atm. the only way to fix it is to clear all fraps traces from your registry or to re format.
