How badly does fraps affect your FPS?

For example, if I was to use it with World of Warcraft on a low-end system, what would happen. As well... would having more RAM significantly improve the performance of fraps?

Depends on the game and I've never played WoW. If I would have to guess, it'd slow it down until it's unplayable. FRAPS often cuts the frames per second in half or more. In Oblivion, I can go from 35 FPS to 15 FPS; in CSS, 120 FPS to 40 FPS; in BF2, 80 FPS to 35FPS.

I've never noticed any sort of slowdown whatsoever when using fraps

Hax to the max.

agreed. HAX TO THE MAX<< HA HA HA HACKS TO THE MAX!!!!
:sniper: ---> :eek:

the way I would do it, is to first record a demo, then in demo mode, use fraps. That way, I don't get screwed while playing. Although, I woudlnt catch some of my best kills....

You don't use the recording feature of Fraps, do you? :P

Yes, sometimes, but i don't think that's what synthos was asking

:P

He asked whether using fraps caused slowdown, which is does not. Whilst recording through fraps, yes, but not whilst running fraps as a means of monitoring fps.

At least that's what i thought he was getting at.

fraps has only killed my fps on some games, when recording, other than that, i dont notice

Yeah i should have been more clear, I want to use Fraps to record so...

We'll see! :D
