I was wondering, are any of you guys using any of these anti-spyware utilities? if you are, then THEN YOUR A SUCKER! http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm I recently found out that my utility, SpywareBot, secretly installed a trojan when I was told from a reliable source to download and use a-squared instead. SpywareBot didn't go down without a fight either. It's like it knew it's little game was up.:P

Most of them out there are illegitimate, which is a real shame.

Most of these supposed anti-spyware things contain spyware. It's a perfect ploy. The only ones I'd recommend are "Spybot Search & Destroy", and "Adaware."

All I use are Spybot: Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware, I'm safe.

it is a category called "smitfraud". often they generate random popups (even when youre not surfing the net) saying you have a virus (when you don't), and then tell you to "click here" and your web browser will open and take you to some site tell you to download some dodgey software and then pay them to remove the "virus". even clicking "ignore" or "no" will take you there anyway.

Alt-F4. Pop-ups almost always contain hyperlinks.:P

Nevertheless, great Wiki link Stewie. Thanks. I'll have to show this to other folks as well.;)

The best thing is when the creeps behind these applications try to plead their case in spyware warrior's forums, and ultimately end up making themselves look like bigger idiots than before.
