Please post more info.

-Computer Specs (CPU, Ram, Video Card, Motherboard, etc)
-Your current DirectX version
-When or where exactly this problem or error occurs

I run XP pro, pentium 4 i.6ghz, 512 ram, video card is radeon 9600 atlantis 128mb. the problem occurs mostly at the start of the game, thats when i load a game and sometimes in the middle of the game once while loading it froze i had to reboot my system it also takes up to a min sometimes to load a game. i've played other games on the same pc without problems, doom3, MOHAA,MOHPA. it also takes a while to load a map on counter strike i get in later than the people im playing with, by the time im in they're already midway thru a round.

Sounds like a memory issue. What do you have running in the background when you try to launch? Try going to your task manager and killing everything you don't need and then launch the game to see if its any better. Also be sure to turn off "indexing" service in XP...that thing is a piece-o-crap.

Could also be network related. Take everything out of the picture that you don't need. If you are on a router, go straight to the cable/dsl modem.

The best way to troubleshoot is to take it to the bare minimum whenever possible and work your way back. Start adding back the things you need one at a time. Use a memory monitor if you can.

Also, to be on the safe side, run ad-aware for adware, spybot s&d for spyware and antivirus for old time's sake. Want a clean machine so nothing interferes with major gaming. Make sure you have latest graphics card drivers and directx 9.0c.

Good Luck,

Right click on my computer, Hardware tab, click Hardware devices, double click your video card options, then the driver tab, then click "roll back driver".

i tried rolling back my driver but i get this message "no driver files have been backed up for this device"
