ok. anyway. whew. my mobo for my primary computer doesnt turn on when you press power. infact, it doesnt do anything. at all.
The power supply works fine on the other PC so that rules that out. changed CMOS battery, made sure jumpers are set ok components ok blah blah blah. its all set up correctly it just wont turn on!!!! but theres no fried components and there wasnt any smoke when it went dodgy or anything.
Few weeks ago i turned the PC on it flashed on for a split second then turned off immediately, after that it wouldnt do anything.

i cant take it back as i have no warranty on it either. grr NEP SMASH!!!

well if there is no indicator light lit up on the motherboard while power is plugged in then you probably shorted something

Failed components in my experience are rarely that visible. We're lucky if we even see a pinhole on an IC if it fries. If you saw a flash and it hasn't worked since (no hint of life at all) you probably took out one of the initial power conditioner/protection circuits. Hopefully your CPU and other parts are okay, as one of the jobs of the circuit in question is to take the fall to save the other parts.

Take out the memories and fire-up. Turn it off by removing power-cable, press down power-button to drain current out and place one module of your memories (If you have more than one) and fire up, see what happens.

Good Luck.

sounds like it might be time for a new mobo....
hopefully didn't take your CPU down with it

Try checking out the capacitors. My motherboard burned itself out about a year ago in exactly the same way you've described. Look at all the little things that look like the bottom third of a AAA-size battery. They should have a small tin-looking circle on the top, scored into four sections. If a capacitor is blown, these four sections won't be flat, they'll stick out as if something had exploded a little inside the capacitor. If you find this, it generally means one or more parts of the motherboard simply won't work.

When it happened to me, my board had no less than 17 blown capacitors. Good times.
