Friend can't use spray?

My friend has been playing tf2, and he tried using a custom spray, but it failed too work. now he's done everything right, and put it in the right folders and we played on servers allowing sprays, and still it didn't work! Any help appreciated!

Assuming you waited for the server to change levels (sprays are only distributed to everyone at level starts).

If your friend used a program, like VTFEdit, to make a VTF file for his spray it should go in

\team fortress 2\tf\materials\VGUI\logos\

Otherwise he should use the import spray option inside TF2.

a .VMT is required with a .vtf and if you're importing a .tga, covering the picture with a white alpha seemed to refresh my sprays nicely.
