I'm not sure if my problem is a compiling error or not, because it compliies just fine, then runs CS:S. But then it sits there. It doesn't automatically open a game. It sits at the CS:S menu. I know that not supposed to happen because my friend's machine automatically runs it, but neither of us can figure out what the difference is.

you are talking about hammer right if you are it is the fact that you set up the options right the thing off valve is wrong and it aint very good

"it is the fact that you set up the options right the thing off valve is wrong and it aint very good"

What does that mean?

Most people can't get it to automatically run the map, so you will have to type "map mapname" into the console.

But if my map-in-the-making is a .vmf file and not in the right directory, do I have to change it somehow and then move it to where my other maps are? Or is there an easier route?

Put the .bsp that gets created into "counter-strike source\cstrike\maps". The .bsp normally gets put in "sourcesdk\cstrike_sample_content\maps"
