Front page update? The Matrix!

I've been visiting this forum for months, and been discussing my map since its beta stage.

I kept the people of HL2.net aware of the developements, etc...

When it's time for the map to be finally released to the grand public, no mention of it on the front page, even though many other news updates were posted here. This is why we release stuff during week-ends, so everyone is aware of it as soon as possible!

Friday, I submitted you guys all the info I sent to other web sites. Full text description + screenshots.
News update about it: Nada! Not even a reply by email if it's a no go.

HL2.net staff!? What wrong here?

yes in fairness to moonquake his map is excellent and does deserve some recognition

Most news articles on the front page are mod based news, yours being a single map may not be as worthy perhaps? Although it is a pretty big achievement. Also i think it may have been more sensible to contact a content writer or Chris_D by PM.
 
I did, guys, I did, friday. There's a "Submit news" button especially for that! lol
I even contacted Azlan, since I saw him post something today.


They post various news updates, mainly mods, valve news... and even icon packs!
So many mods announced out there, how many even make it alpha?

They posted about my maps before, that's why I'm wondering why not this time?

I'm 27, I can surely understand if someone replies to me saying "Well, we post only mods and valve news, no map news!" But I got no answer whatsoever which is a bit rough and that's why I have no choice but to post it here.

It's their choice, of course, but I feel left aside!

Well at one point they were posting news about every mod in development it seemed, and many of those were only in the concept art stage, whereas you have a finished map. We need more news on completed maps and mods.

there are so few maps worth dling that the good ones need to be praised as much as possible

I'm sure they'll get on it, and there was no malice on their parts. :smoking:

Although it is a shame there are so few servers running it at the mo. :borg:

Replied to your email mate. I don't have the power to make it a news update but I'll see if I can get someone who does to do it. Phenomenal map.

Cruchenator: I think I emailed the whole staff but you... lol. No serious, I Emailed Ennui and Azlan yesterday.

But first, friday, I did like I think I should've done: I used the "Submit News" button on the front page that emails you guys at "news(at)halflife2.net".

So, is this email box even checked by someone during the week-ends?

Don't worry about it. Your map has travelled far already.
My favorite server has it in its mapcycle anyway, and you're on their site's front page:

I too think they should've put up a newsbit about this map on hl2.net's front page. Best map I've downloaded for any game ever. Put it on the front page you news people!

Anyway, thanks ... you've earned my recognition.
 
Element: yeah you're right.
This might just be one more web site, but it's a web site I like.

I seriously thought I would be supported by them.

Oh well, I'll remember that the next time I make a project.

I don't understand why this wasn't on the main news page, because this is one hell of a nice map. It should be on the main news page. :(
 
Superb map, thanx moonquake for your efford to make it (all alone).
And it is really sad for your favorit forum and web site to be so muted on your release...
Keep up the good work!
 
BUUUUMMPP this really needs a front page news. And if not, I want to know why.
 
Maybe off topic here, but Moonquake, if you are looking for publicity you should try joining a mod, its a much better way to get your work seen on major sites. Generally speaking, the nicest maps go largely un played on servers while maps like iceworld which probably took all of 2 hours if that to make are ran everywhere. In a mod however, every map you make gets played by everyone playing your mod. I know you said you dont have time when I asked you at the time, but I was like you, and spent months on my maps with only mediocre results. I got a wife, a full time job, did a side project for vip mod css, yet still find time to work on a mod, I think if I have time anyone does, so long as they are committed. Anyways, nice map.

We don't mention ones that organize attacks on us.
 
oh no doubt. i assumed it was something of that nature. don't really know enough about either site to know the history, and i surely wasn't questioning the reason, just pointing out i was unaware.
 
I'm in favour of you MQ, I didn't bloody know about the final release until now. Should have damn well got on the front page.
