A miracle material for the 21st century could protect your home against bomb blasts, mop up oil spills and even help man fly to Mars.

Aerogel, one of the world's lightest solids, can withstand a direct blast of 1 kilogram of dynamite and protect against heat from a blowtorch at more than 2,400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Funny, being too hot on Mt. Everest.

Aerogel (Silicon Dioxide) is definitely great material, it's by-product of NASA research. I wan't sample but in United Nuclear it was sold out.

It's been around for awhile and is to retardedly expensive for any real use.

Yea, and my skin does the same thing..

Anybody else notice the sudden burst of awesome science appearing latley?

I love it.

Really expensive, but damn if it wouldn't be just badass for those certain "MUST NEED" applications.

What did they mean..."cloudy appearance"?

It's like a piece of gas, that doesn't dissolve into the air?
