This sounds very suspicious people because Steam never sends you e-mail. But I just wanted you guys to confirm if this is legit or not.

Dear Steam user (account name: [email protected]),

This is an automated message generated by Steam account administration to help you reset your Steam password.

Please enter the following code into the 'Verification Code' field of the
'Forgotten Password' dialog. (Enter the code exactly as written. You can use
copy/paste operations to enter the code):

QNaY-4yJ

Please also enter the *answer* to the following question into the 'Secret
Answer' field of the same dialog:

What is your mother's maiden name?

IMPORTANT: Please do not reply to this message to attempt to reset your password
-- that won't work. You must enter the above information into the Steam
application.

Signed,

dont give the password and mail contact (the real) steam ...

erm...when you wanna reset your password they send you this email. I did it the other day because i forgot mine and i went away and needed to log in elsewhere. Its normal. You put the verification code into steam and then the answer to your secret question and you can make a new password. Its pretty simple and legit.

I would have no concern over this email, unless you didnt prompt steam to reset your password, meaning someone is trying to log into your account / steal it.

Can't believe some of you guys who have been around a long time think this is dodgy!?

It did seem a bit dodgy though when reading through it, i don't remember my password resetting E-mail being like that at all i dont think :S

I just realised that this message is'nt dodgey at all. I bought the HL platinum edition a long time ago and created 2 Steam accounts. One of them I use to this day and the other I gave away. I put it on my clan forums for clan use only because some of them have never played HL. One of them stole the account though and changed the password. The account e-mail is still directed to me so that person probably forgot his password lmao! I just got 3 of the same messages lol!

Explain that situation to Steam (find OFFICIAL forms on the Steam Forums) and include any extra info (CDkey, email-accounts, previous passwords), include all of it. Helped a friend of mine with that and in two weeks we got an answer : Password was reset and the account was ours again! Muaha
