I've had this idea in my head for a while now, but now that I've got a bunch of free time, I've got no excuse to not act on it. Basically, in this thread, whoever wants to can tell a story. It has to be true, it has to be related to you somehow, but otherwise it's all up to you. Here, I'll go first.
My great-grandmother came to America from Germany sometime between WWI and WWII (can't remember the exact date). She'd been meaning to move here for a while, but had been pushed into action by alarming happenings in the government and whatnot (good call!). Anyway, she and my great-grandfather boarded a passenger ship bound for America, along with hundreds of other poor Germans.
Now, this was hardly a luxury cruise, so to cut down on costs and whatnot, Grapefruit constituted a big part of the meals. The passengers (having never seen a Grapefruit before, nevermind eaten them) took one bite and promptly threw them off the back. So, as she told it, there was a line of disgruntled Germans leading to the boat's bow, and a line of discarded grapefruits leading back to Germany
Now someone else go!
