Note: this is basically a repost since i apparently posted in the wrong forum last time.

Playing HL2DM, watching people carrying stuff around, i couldnt help thinking someone should make a CTF variant using the Gravity Gun.

I post about it here and hopefully someone that actually could make this happen will read it and be inspired by it.

Basically its CTF done the HL2/CS way.

Fusion - An "easy"? CTF inspired mod suggestion

Key features:

- Two Uranium Halves , one for each base.

- Putting the Halves together in the base triggers a fusion , creating a shockwave ( im visualizing a really nice Black and white only "heat" effect here, See Attached Image) through the whole map killing everyone and setting it up for the next round.
And at the same time giving the points to the scoring team.

- Dropped Halves breaks down (again a nice Atom inspired effect) over time and a new one appears in the base. (just like regular CTF)

- Teams, Rebels vs Combine

Of course the variations are endless,

One variation would be using the power pillars in the end of HL2, stealing one energy sphere from your opponents pillar and getting it back to yours=score.

another one, more complicated is using the physics stealing heavy stuff from the enemy side of the map to lets say, lower an elevator to open a gate or whatever. (just like in the boat race puzzle in the beginning of HL2)

A couple of questions,

1. Is this hard to do for someone new to modding? (considering that HL2:s models and weapons etc will be used so no need to create those)
2. Does anyone know of some mod like this being worked on atm?
3. Would you like to play something like this?, if not what would you want to change?

Nice ideas, and if i had the experience i'd definately give that a go.

Unfortunately, i dont....

the basic gameplsy you wouldn't have to mod; just use entities in your dm map the right way (see a map called dm_speedball for an example). You can't control the teamscore though, but you could count the score the way it's done in speedball, by using a scoreboard seen in the actual map. You can, though, control when the map ends (I think you could devise a round restart too, but I think it would involve killing everyone in the map; guess you already thought of that though ).

Only problem with your idea: why are the players trying to kill themselves?

Hmm sounds complicated.

And yea its not that logical huh? ;)
I just wanted a additional, visual reward for capping, something that would make people go, Wow!.

I guess one could have "safe" areas for the capping team just like in CS.
