Taking after fy_glass by squall (For CS), here is my CSS map.

It's fullbright, but that's mainly for gameplay reasons. (Fullbright means that all brushes are equally lit for those who don't know)

You'll get the most out of it when you play it with 10-16 people. Don't judge it too hard from the screenshots, the gameplay is *great*. Load it up and have a look :).

PS. This map is final and won't be changed however in future maps I'd be glad to hear what you'd like to see? :) DS.

Oh well, thanks for replying :) Don't care if you hate the looks, the gameplay rules :P (Future maps are going to look better though, what did you expect from my first map? ;)).

Dead-Inside: screenshots dont really give an idea of what the map is like and i havent played the original either so im not sure what to expect...havent played yet - not sure of any servers
 
Well... I've only hosted it (And have people join to start the server up...) once. So it's pretty hard to spread an unknown map.

I know you can't see gameplay from screenshots, but sometimes people tend to skip comments and just judge the screenshots. That's more their problem then mine though. I'm not sure on what map to do next (A serious project, hopefully).
 
The geometry looks great and all, but you really need to work on your textures. Thats what (as far as I'm concerned) makes your map look like crud. Couldn't tell you if its fun w/o playing.
 
I suggest you play it ;).

I didn't know how to texture sides when I first made the map and well, I told myself not to edit it now, so I'm not going to.
 
Can I have bsp OR server playing map. I'll give it a spin.

The concept is quite fun though.

Indeed but I promised that my first map would be finished when I said (At the time) that it was finished. Live with it ;).

@ Deleter, I'd be happy to supply you with the .bsp (It was actually posted on yousendit.com and linked in my original post but yousendit.com seems to be down).

Yousend it only allows 7 downloads or some amount of time before they take it off. And its up too.
 
Actually... that map's already been remade, and the remake is a bit more polished than yours.

I'm sorry what? This isn't a remake as much as it is a new map. The idea of a glass floor is reused.

TBH that's one of the worst "constructive" critiques I've gotten on this map. You didn't even mention it's in mat_fullbright...

Doesn't matter anyway, I have a new version that's probably going to be released soon. It's the same map but completely different :).
 
Yay this map is like He_glass but worse. Thanks for making another map that supposedly has great gameplay.... (killbox map suck)
 
Firstly, light it.

Secondly, make an attempt to make it look good.

Thirdly, well, have fun if you like it as it is ;)
 
Killboxes seem only to be a lot of fun over LAN (as i found out cos thats what i used to make)...No difference in ping that way so everyone can keep up with frantic action.

Does need to be lit though (especially if publicly released).
Most people dont like killboxes so maybe its better to just keep it to yourself and mates (unless you want to do killboxes ALL the time) - if someone sees you make 3 killboxes and then you release a full map, they will be less likely to play as they already have a prejudice against killboxes.

That said, I already have this map in its new, polished version with all the lookgood stuff but with the same layout (and mostly the same textures).

So let this thread die. I don't even know why it was revived in the first place. I'll probably be posting the new map (fy_glassed_final) tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip but I like fy_, he_ and sometimes ka_ maps. Seeing as how I like playing them (Usually more than de_ and cs_ because it's faster action and more slaugther in less time) I'm pretty much bound to make them. Sometime in the future when I feel I know "enough" I'll probably begin a serious project. I already have an idea for a cs_ map but when I began to draw out a little cave (Which was the hardest part on the map) it wouldn't come together with subdivide. Not really my fault, it didn't like my angles...

So I'll just stick to my fy_ maps for now. I have no idea what to make next though (After my polished fy_glassed map that is ;)).
