G-man Portal relation theorie

I have had the greatest theorie in the world (hoping valve goes DOH they figured it out)about G-man.
Gman supposedly (which we almost pretty assuringly know) means Government Man. Black Mesa and Aperture were fighting over Government funding for portal technology(starting 1986). Aperture (this parts source is aperturescience.com) apparently at sometime had government funding(1981 on the site) from a contract from the Senate for Portal technology. If G-man is Government man he probably worked for Aperture for a bit.

Haven't thought of anything to connect to this but, hey G-man is mysterious.

THOUGHTS THOUGHTS THOUGHTS!

Edit: I only said we assume he is Goverment Man because he always has a suit and briefcase.

Hahahahahaha!!

Seriously... you might want to lurk before you post. You on any other forums?

Edit: Decided to be a bit more helpful.

The Gman has been discussed many times, for many years. We can't decide on anything until Valve say it is so, so anything you do say is probably wrong. There's a thread called the Marc Laidlaw Vault in which all facts about half-life have been put. You might want to read it first. The gman hasn't specifically been related to Portal, so I'm not entirely sure that this thread's even in the right place.

If the gman worked for Aperture, surely he'd also have to work for Black Mesa by your reasoning. And if he is a "government man" as you said, then he wouldn't work for either, as he'd be above both. The gman was a name given to the model before any theories of him had even been developed, so it's too far fetched to call him "Governement Man". Don't read so much into the name. It's just that, a name.

Ok, so the theory has no real merit. But in the right light it still fits. Consider this: what if G-Man engineered the Borealis's disappearance? I don't see any apparent contradictions there, it fits with his warning to Eli, and fits his character given his interference at Black Mesa. He clearly knows about the Borealis or at least Mossman's mission given he showed us a snapshot of the base where she was located.

I just realised how incredibly plausible this is myself. Maybe I should make this my new prediction, after all, I think it was Samon who was right about the Eli-GMan connection.

Ok! I'm all for speculation but this is just too much! I mean CMON! have a little respect for reality.

Well, the literal assumption that the G-Man was simply a government official responsible for the facilities, or an aperture employee himself I admit is sheer stupidity given what we know about him so far. However, to say that he interfered in Apertures affairs like he did Black Mesa is not in the realms of fantasy. I know that isn't exactly the OP's suggestion, but it's the only way this thread isn't going to turn into a mocking session.
