Gabe Email Virus!!!

If any of you get an e-mail from Gabe that says RE: Hi

Just get rid of it. Its got some kind of virus in it.

It has a JPEG of some number and a TXT file that was the virus.

Don't bother e-mailing Gabe about it, I already did.
 
i'll bet 1000 dollars it wasn't from gabe... jsut someone who made it seem like it.
 
have u checked the header for one of those email bnc thingies..
 
Ahahaha....Gabe got a virus. :D
Either that or the ol' HLRadio crew is up to their tricks again.
Almost as pathetic as the time my boss, who works in marketing, got one and sent virus messages to a few hundred of his best clients. :D
 
why would he send a virus, probobly som looser hacker.
 
Many viruses will send themselves to anyone on your contact list, so thats likely what this is.
 
Uhh, have you not heard of the latest E-mail virus thingy?

Is Gabe in your address book?

This new virus picks an address from your address book, and pretends it is being sent from there. This way, you will think it's safe, because you know the person.


Unless I'm wrong. It might be something else.

I'd forgotten about that. But I dont really see why someone would target just me out of how many other people on these forums. And also I dont have my e-mail out for public view. And also, it was a " RE" so they would have to have assumed I was e-mailing Gabe. And I have e-mailed Gabe many times.
I do have him on my address list too though.

At any rate... I'm going out and getting Norton Anti-Virus today. This free AVG crap isn't cuttin' it.


If it was from Gabe.....can I have that 1000$? I really like money.
 
The funny thing is that some of these people have gabe in their address book.

So it was a re, that doesn't mean anything. They have all types of titles, and all types of body text, like, "here it is" or "check this out"

And you don't need to worry about email viruses unless you actually download the attachment. I hate stupid people who refuse to even look at them for more than 5 seconds for fear of getting a virus. :p

And @ voodoo, sorry if I sounded a little mean heh.
 
I'm personally suspicious of any e-mail with the subject "Hi" or "Hello". I've never had a real person send me one with those subjects, only spammers.
 
Even if you got an E-mail from Gabe that had a virus, it probably wasn't his fault. People send E-mail that has viruses in it and they don't even know it.

Alot of times if it is spam though a message is sent back to the spammers telling them that their message was read and they will know that they have a good address and then the real spamming begins...
 
uhh wasn't the original leak caused by gabe's computer being hacked through his e-mail?
 
Its probably a person with an infected computer that scans temporary internet files (tif, we will call it) and finds email addresses. Then, it changes the "from" field to show one of the email addresses from the "tif". Ive gotten some of those from support @ steampowered.com, esforces.com, and one from halflifesource.com i believe.
 
wow what a looser what kinda of idiot gets his jollies out of sending viruses to random people, i hate people like that
 
I have gotten viruses that are "from" people on my sisters contact list, and she lives in a different house. Viruses do all sorts of stuff like that. But **YAWN** Norton takes good care of me.

And ya I have Gabe in my e-mail address list. I once sent him an email, he responded, so I think it automatically put him in there. LOL he responded at 1:30 at night, so you know they are working hard to make this game for us.
 
It's so easy here in Finland, none of my friends would ever post me a message in english, only spammers and viruses. There are no real email viruses written in finnish yet :) It's easy to just delete all english content from the inbox.

And it's easy to me too: I never use my email, neenr. (well, only in more "official" stuff)
 
Well, I got Norton Internet Security Pro today. So I don't have to worry about anything now.
That crap was expencive though. And its sorta makin' my pc run a little funky. I need to see if it keeps doing it.

Like asking me how I want to boot when I start my pc. Which I dont want it to ask me, I want it to just do what it always does and freakn' turn on.

But eh, no biggie.

maybe he just wanted to pick one person, im sure if anyone in the world got picked theyll think the same thing.
