Stardock is pleased to announce the second expansion pack to its award-winning PC strategy game Galactic Civilizations II. The new expansion pack, entitled Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor, takes place shortly after the events of Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar and puts the player in control of one of 12 unique civilizations ranging from the humans to the evil Drengin to the mysterious Thalan.

Galactic Civilizations II: Twilight of the Arnor aims to greatly expand the wealth of content available to Galactic Civilizations II players. New features include the solar system destroying Terror Stars, unique technology trees per civilization, unique weapons per civilization, unique planetary improvements for different civilizations, a map editor with a 3D engine, a custom scenario editor that allows users to create extremely custom games that can be shared with each other, Metaverse tournaments, new graphics, special new ships with corresponding ship components and much more!

The expansion pack has a target release date of November 2007 and will list for $29.95. Users can pre-order it directly from GalCiv2.com at a discounted price. It requires Galactic Civilizations II: Gold Edition or Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar to be installed in order to use.

Well I really can't wait, this sounds like its going to be epic first Empire: Total War and now this. YAY!

Just bought this. Woo(Well, actually convinced my brother to buy it, so I really appreciate that he did that)! Can't wait to play it. Which will be after I wake up.

I have the original Dread Lords and the Dark Avatar expansion pack, and now I have Twilight of the Arnor.

YAY!

This is an awesome expansion pack according to all the reviews I've read, that drastically alter the game in many great ways.

I haven't played GalCiv2 in ages, I was wondering, is it possible to win purely with diplomacy?

It's been forever since I played it too... unfortunately I barely touched it during Dark Avatar, but I'm going to play the hell out of it with Twilight of the Arnor!

If I remember correctly, diplomacy is a victory condition, but I have typically disabled all except total domination, allowing a basically endless game for me until I decide to conquer the galaxy or the other races conquer me.

Well yes I know diplomacy is a victory condition but when I played GalCiv2 you were pretty much forced to fight wars.

If you were skilled enough, I bet it'd be possible to get others to fight your wars for you.

Being diplomatic though doesn't mean you have to have a weak military force, because in the game if I remember correctly, as in reality, if somebody wants to crush you, they will crush you unless you can resist them, once all arteries of diplomacy fail.

Bribe others to fight your wars for you :) A pure diplomacy victory is easily accomplished. Hell it's the cheap win. Try and ascension victory where everyone wants to kill you.
