Video games being made into movies seems to be a popular thing with companies, but not with fans.

Mostly because Uwe Boll makes films and he sucks. On my daily lunchtime web surf, I visited http://www.empireonline.com/ to see a huge combine face staring at me.

Click the Game and Watch and have a browse through. I'm still perusing, but some of the comments are laughable, hopefully some aren't as bad.

System Shock as a movie has the only real potential - pity it isn't on the agenda

Grim Fandango?
Freespace 2?

Hell Yes.

Also, Quake 4 would rock on the big screen.

Grim Fandango would work well as a film. Very stylized with that film noir effect. Could be the Nightmare Before Christmas meets Casablanca.

I quite like the comment about Dakota Fanning in OoT and the unleashing of Leroy Jenkins in a WoW movie.

LMFAO! I would like to see that but I would think it would be a hard movie to make :farmer:

Weren't they making a Counter Strike movie a year ago?

Just thinking about it makes me laugh.

I dunno... 2 hours of making l33t speak original is a mighty task. But then again most CS players say the same thing over and over again... so...yeah. :borg:

I thought they were already making a Hitman movie w/ Vin Diesel?

:( :( :(

Vin Diesel looks nothing like Agent 47. Are you sure?

I know! He'll wear welding goggles and always have his shoulders exposed. And he'll do nothing the same way you do stuff in Hitman. Like, big explosions and stuff.

Oh, and John Lovitz would make a way better Leisure Suit Larry.

He has a bald head, thats a start :p

Yeah, but Agen 47 isn't a muscle bound dude like Vin Diesel, he's more skiny and with a cold face.

I just thought of the best idea EVER!

Eight words -- Street Fighter: The Move: The Video Game ... The Movie!!

Complete with people getting juggled in the air infinitely, shadowy special moves, and a clip from the old movie (just before the credits) of the late Raul Julia shouting "GAME OVAAAH!"

I've never seen the need for video game movie crossovers; it's a step down in my opinion in removing the interactivity. The only area where a movie has a distinct advantage is in story telling, but some great games do it equally well in my opinion. Half-Life has a different approach to story telling that I like, it uses the format of the game in order to tell the story, it's up to the player to pick up the clues. Which is why I don't think it'd work as a movie. As well as Gordon never speaking of course. The whole point of Half-Life is that you are meant to be Gordon Freeman, a movie just couldn't convey that. It would be better if they left Gordon out of it entirely, perhaps mention him but never show him.

If a Half-Life movie was going to be made (don't see it happening given how protective valve are) then Marc Laidlaw would have to write the story. I don't know how good he is at screenplays but I'd hate to see some lousy writers walk into it and butcher everything. Valve have always said if there was a Half-Life movie then it'd have to build on top of the games, not just a movie version of Half-Life but an actual entry into the Half-Life universe that extends the story somewhat.

some good entrys there...Quake was planned as a movie a long time ago though!
Dont think the WoW or any movie like it would work though it would be classic to see LEEERRROOOYY Jenkins!
