OK i am running Half Life 2 on a brand new laptop, i just downgraded from vista home premium to XP Professional. When i had Windows Vista, the game ran fine, now it runs fine until i get to a load screen. Whenever i get to a load screen where the game autosaves, just after the loading picture in the middle goes away it minimizes and a window pops up that says "hl2.exe has encountered an error and needs to close." i then choose "don't send" and the game closes, i can go back into the game and load from that autosave and continue with no problem until the next autosave/loading point. if anyone knows the answer here i would really appreciate it.
